Saw a guy wearing a pair of Audio Technica ATH-WS70 at my university a couple of days ago. Although I think i startled him when I went right up to him to get his attention and asked what kind of headphones he had and how they sounded.

$1.63 for Koss KSC-75 from a local Office Depot clearance. $14.95 for Sony ZX701 from a local Staples clearance. $1.00 for Skullcandy UpRock, although they were so bad too me that even at a dollar I felt ripped off. I could have had a candy bar or something. Oh well. Staples clearance again.

Logitech UE6000 can be had used/refurbished for $100. They sounded particularly great to me and look sleek to boot. If you prefer new and don't mind on ear you could try the UE4000.

Yeah, I'm interested in hearing the difference and will post what I hear about it. That's why I ordered the velours right along with them and one of hifiman's portable carrying cases ;) I've never tried an orthodynamic before so I am quite excited.

I'd recommend the Meelectronics CC51. They have plenty of bass presence that has good texture, but doesn't bog up the mids and highs. Has plenty of clarity and speed throughout the range. I'd say they also sound slightly intimate and aggressive with great impact so I'm sure he'd be impressed...
