Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread
The p7w's are very special headphones. I bought another pair of my Mrs, and I paid a lot more than 65 quid, you got an absolute bargain there. The best thing is how good they sound wired out of my dragonfly red DAC. Absolutely awesome sound quality for what it is. Best headphone rig I've ever...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones
Well I tried with the PX7s, or shall I say, my girlfriend did. I find them hugely disappointing sonically, and even my girlfriend A/B’d them against the P7W and said the latter sounded like the band was in the room with you, whereas the PX7 sounds veiled in comparison with the P7. I was also...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones
Agreed, mind, the mrs likes them, and i did kind of buy them for her (although was willing to take custody if they were an upgrade), so most likely they’ll be staying. I’ll be sticking with the P7Ws though, no doubt. Still the best pair of headphones I’ve owned.- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones
Well if that’s the case, I’ll be staying well away from the Sony! I had some MDR-CD3000 back in the day. Most overrated headphones ever. Really comfy, really rubbish sounding.- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones
Not looking good. I’m not a burn-in denier, but these would have to change enormously for them to be anywhere near the P7. They set a high bar with those headphones. These PX’s sound exactly how I imagine the WH-1000XM3 to sound. They do a better job blocking out noise, and that is it. Shame...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins PX7 noise-cancelling over ear headphones
Just got a pair of these today. I haven’t read the full thread, but someone please tell me these get better after a few hours use, or they’re going back on ebay! I bought these for my girlfriend, but having listened to them, they sound like garbage compared to my P7 Wireless. They just sound...- pbirkett

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
Agree, I did read a review of the XM3 where the reviewer said they liked the hearthrough feature but he felt incredibly rude doing so. I would probably have the same issue. I feel like I’m going to be restricted to neckbuds for my use, as I’m not really wanting to wear a big pair of cans at work...- pbirkett

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
Yes, I don't think I read of any implementation of it that I would find satisfactory at this stage so I made do without for the M1s, but I hadn't really fully thought about how impractical it would be in the real world.- pbirkett

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?
My first foray into TW headphones is with the Cambridge Melomania 1's. I did a fair bit of research on these and it was either going to be these or the Sony XM3s. I ended up returning them after a week. Some of its issues are more about TW headphones themselves rather than specifically to the...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread
Well that is interesting indeed. I have actually listened to most of my favourite tracks again this afternoon using the P7Ws wired to my DAC, and I honestly did think to myself whether it was worth bothering spending the money, and you seem to have confirmed it! I could be tempted to get...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread
So using these in wired mode, I have tried them once in the past out of my NAD D3020 and felt they weren't massively different. However, I am now listening to them out of the headphone jack of my DAC (A Beresford Caiman II) and the sound is very agreeable indeed, definitely a step up from using...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
Yeah... many years ago I had an HD600, but I don't remember it being as veiled as this. I tried it out of every source / amp I could get my hands on and it basically never went away. Therefore I'm just concluding they just ain't for me. I don't see any point in trying to make headphones that...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread
I got someone on the HD58x thread to buy a pair when I was waxing lyrical over them! I paid £240 for mine ($300 USD) and I don't feel in the least bit disappointed for that price, so for $136 it's a complete and utter steal IMO. Thats under £100 in UK money and I'm not confident I could do...- pbirkett

Bowers & Wilkins P7 Wireless - Impressions Thread
Well, I've got to say, these P7's are in my opinion really good headphones regardless of being wireless or not. I tried some HD58x to replace my DT990, they were the complete opposite of those, and for that reason, I didn't get on with them either. Where the DT990s were bright and thin...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
Listening again this morning. I'm just not sure I'm getting on with these at all, so I think they'll be going up for sale. Every time I wear them the impression I get is that they're veiled/muffled. I've ended up putting the wire on my P7s and using those, and am enjoying them more. I think I'll...- pbirkett

Hahahaha I certainly didn't intend to get someone else to spend their hard earned but hey ho I very much doubt you'll regret it. I'm listening to the p7 now on the train. They're not noise cancelling but you can't really hear much when you've got your tunes on and even with all the background...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
Correct I'm using the wireless version. And I have also used them wired but I didn't notice any advantages to doing so but it's nice to have the option. The only criticism I have of them is pretty much the same as any other closed headphone in that they don't sound open! For $136 I would...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
And this morning I've got the p7w's on as I'm traveling and I honestly think they might be the most enjoyable of the 3 pairs I own. The bass is the hardest hitting of the lot but I also don't get the impression that they're lacking treble either. I would definitely say the 58x are better than...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
Yeah, they were also suggested to me at one point. I went for these first as I had been after them for a while, I wanted to see if I could stay with open backs, and they were cheaper than the Fostex. If I don't like these that's the direction I'll be heading. I wouldn't care there was some for...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
Yeah I think I need to listen some more, thinking back to last night and it's probably my only real complaint, and that is to say it was a minor complaint which I feel might actually be of some benefit. Sometimes I feel like I want a more lively in your face sort of sound but to be fair that...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
I've not had loads of time to listen to them so far, but I can share my impressions after an hour or so of listening. Comfort is pretty good, about on par with my P7w's and not as good as the DT990 (obviously). Clamps a bit. I'll get used to it, always do. They definitely have more bass than...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
My other headphones are B&W P7 Wireless. I guess probably a combination of closed backs and tuning, but they kick out very good bass, good slam, pretty good speed and goes pretty deep. These have been on my radar for a while, a few impressions I remember reading some time back was that the bass...- pbirkett

Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Review & Measurements
I'm half excited, half nervous for these. Some things I read say they have great bass and sound warm and fun. Others that they're thin and cold. Not sure what to believe really especially since my 990s were meant to be some kind of bass monster but they're anything but... I will say now that if...- pbirkett
