This is exactly my position.  I'm a happy owner of the uDAC-2, used daily in my office system.  Would love to know how the uDAC-3 compares relative to this.  It would be an inexpensive upgrade to an item I listen through on most days. 

I've just bought a pair of AudioEngine A2 for desktop use at work. The are excellent for this application. Great sound even at low to moderate volume levels. Good imaging and clariy. A huge step up from the basic computer/desktop speakers I'd been using before. They list for $199, but...

Well, I'll end up using my portable amp most at my office desk feeding it FLAC source files from my laptop, so, YES! I've ordered a Pico. The fact that I can also carry it around, and use an analog input is just a bonus.
