There are no drivers to install. It's a generic USB audio device. If it's not seen on any XP machine I would have to think its a hardware issue. Have you tried with a different cable just to rule that out?

That was what I was trying to say. I think on a higher end dac it would be, but at this price range, the batterpack is overkill. I am sure some difference is there, but given the choice again, I wouldnt buy it.

I tried it a few times and could not for the life of me detect any audio differences between using batteries and not, so I dont think your missing much.

I have to unplug my usb, plug in the battery power, then replug the usb in for the battery to work, but I have noticed no real world sound difference in using the battery in my personal experience.

Makes you wonder how as people hear the sound so differently, how we see things differently as well. I am one of those that hears the hiss to the point that is annoying to hear. My wife can't hear it but I am not sure she's aware what she's trying to hear or if i can just hear something she cannot.

I bet they sound amazing. I wish I could afford a balanced amp. I guess I'll have to just enjoy my Jolida as much as I can with my K701's. I can't imagine them sounding much better than they do, must truely be amazing, stock I think they are better than my HD600's with Cardas cable.

How much is the usb-asio?

I haven't had any problems controling the volume from within windows with or without asio, even when it says beyond logic. The only application is when foobar is set to use aiso and you dont have the resampler set then there is no sound.

I figure the UD-10 is upsampling to cd standard thereby creating the beyond logic as asio is supposed to pass it thru exactly the way it is. When the UD-10 changes it, then it fubar's asio.

Not sure, I think it tries to play everything at cd standard. I noticed the same thingm but regardless of AISO I can't say it dosn't sound good. It may work better with vista as they removed all the kmixer garbage.
