got my E6 in today... compared to my laptop output, very little difference.. a little less bass and more crispier treble, that's all.

I'd say the 840s are too trebly to be completely neutral. They got very tiring to listen to , both musically and physically. Classical music also sounds really weird , the violins just screech too much.

mdr-1r are pretty similar too, but i didn't get a chance to a/b, just auditioned the 1r   shure-840s I own, and they sound NOTHING like the momentums. at all.

are you referring to amp/DAC combo or just an amp (ie E6?)

oi hd 598s came in today. two completely different sound signatures, yet so awesome in their own regards. I don't think I'll be needing any more upgrades for a while :)

i just upgraded from soundstage-modded 555s to 598s, has anyone else done the same? I feel like the soundstage is similar, but but it is the added treble response in the 598s makes it sound wider/airier   edit: not to downplay the significance of the upgrade: everything sounds clearer...

Shure 840 sound is very different from momentum. Much more treble oriented, while momentums have deeper bass extension.

I had a pair from another retailer and returned it, then received new ones from razordog today.. canada post is lazy so I couldn't do a direct comparison.. I swear the sound is a little different! maybe i'm just crazy though.

i'm gonna pitch in and say that they are NOT proprietary connectors! i have a cable from shure srh-480 and after some whittling of the rubber, it fits right in. unfortunately, i cut right rough the S connector.. a little bit of aluminum foil patched it up.   any 3.5mm to 2.5mm that is small...

I just purchased a pair. I read a few reviews/comments around the interwebz and decided to get them. And man, are they awful.. even worse than the HTC stereo headset that came with my desirez! The bass on the akg is just non-exsistent, soundstage is awful. Does anyone else have these earphones/...

Does anyone else have a pair of UE600- I just noticed today that the bass is aLOT better. more bass than my px-200IIs, which was definetely NOT the case when I first got the UE600 in... :/ 

my UE600 came in today... so I'm going to keep the ue600 and return the shures. ue600 has a very balanced sound, a little weak on the bass, but crystal mid and highs. and 40 dollars cheaper than the shures.

omg. Best buy has the UE600 for 60 dollars. so 60 for UE600, or 100 for Se215. I'm going to make a trip down there tomorrow. I will decide outside the store and decide on one of them, and return the other. I'll post back!!   edit... online only I think. Placed one for backorder.

just wrap it around your hand. that way the circle fits in the case snugly too

if you go to the headphone.com Learning Centre you can build a frequency graph response for the se215, and compare it to other headphones in their list, as a starting point.

I should clarify- there are a few posts commenting on how the plug *broke*. I hear the shure warranty is fantastic though.
