I have a friend who has the Alessandro MS1 and the Shure e3 who is wondering what the best amp for these headphones in that price range is. As I do not claim to be an expert on all things amplifier-related, I thought I'd ask here.

How low in the Sennheiser line can I go and still get an idea of the Sennheiser house sound??? EDIT: I'd prefer to do this unamped, so keep that in mind.

I was wondering if the e4 was A) worth the extra money over the e3 and B) sounded good unamped (obviously an amp would help). I listen almost exclusively to rock and am looking for a grado-like (i.e. "fun") IEM. From what I could tell, these sound like they'd be close to what I'm looking for...

I was looking through the back of my MS1s... the driver appears to say: HF/106/92 32 (ohm symbol) SR 100 32 A quick google search shows that there was a Grado SR 100 at some point... so, it appears that the MS1 is based on the now discontinued SR100 EDIT I'm not sure. Upon further review...

I'm strongly considering these. I currently have the HD202s, which have a really stiff cord that causes microphonics . I was wondering if the HD280 Pros had the same problem
