HIFIMAN HE-R10 Closed-Back Headphones Discussion & Impressions
I've had the R10D's for a couple months and enjoying them. They sound especially good on new releases where the recording is brickwalled. The R10's take the edge off them and makes them much more listenable, while still providing plenty of detail. The R10's give a different listening...- TexasBuck

Selling my Fostex TH-900 MK1 closed back headphones. I bought them from another Head-Fi member and have maintained their good condition. Sound is excellent and cups are in great shape. The pads are certainly useable but likely due for a replacement in the not to distant future. They haven't...- TexasBuck

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
I never had any sibilance issues. I found the cable provided any extra layer or detail and opened up the sound more. I loved the HD800s before but the 3C cable took them to even even higher level of performance.- TexasBuck

Massdrop x Noble X Universal IEMs Review / Preview
I'm one of the posters here that has complained about fit. I stumbled on a solution which works with the tips that come with the Noble X: All I have to do is leave the wires dangling from my ears instead of draped over my ears. For some reason, when the wires are over my ears, it pops the...- TexasBuck

Massdrop x Noble X Universal IEMs Review / Preview
I'm using the single-flange silicone ear tips (L). I think of a "fun" sounding sig as a V where something is added and something else is taken away. I don't really hear anything extra being added or anything being taken away, other than harshness. The X's do have good bass, but I don't think...- TexasBuck

Massdrop x Noble X Universal IEMs Review / Preview
I'm not sure If I would call the Noble X a "Fun" signature. I would think the Noble X qualify as neutral but a touch on the warm side. The highs are there, just not offensive. The bass is also there but not overwhelming. The Noble X are smooth, pleasant and non-fatiguing. However, much more...- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
I have an older model Violectric (HPA 181) and it works great with the XC. It really brings out the planner bass thump. The V280 has even more power and likely the same neutral tuning. Should be a great choice.- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
I was using the Sabre DAC. That's a pretty good thought to switch to the 1793. The Sabre worked great for my Senn HD800S and Beyer T5p's I had at the time. (Both of those are on the warm side) The Sabre doesn't seem to be a good match with headphones that have more extended higher...- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
I got a 3C (Charleston Cable Company) Cardas cable. SLC1966 got the same brand (See his post above) It looks like 3C doesn't advertise the cable I have anymore but contact them as SLC1966 did and they will hook you up. chris@c3audio.com is a fantastic help there. Highly recommend their...- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
Mine sounded really bright to the point it was just a harsh glare that made them really difficult to listen to. I tried many things. Vegan pads: Which helped a small bit. A warm copper cable helped more than I expected. The ultimate solution was I switched out my bright/analytical Burson...- TexasBuck

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
No doubt. My other 2 phones are the Fostex TH-900's and Audeze XC's and I never feel the bass is lacking when I listen to my HD 800S'.- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
I think the XC is something of a U shape sig but nothing drastic. The mids aren't lacking to my ears but not as sweet as my Senn HD800S. However, the HD800S sound-stage is so freakishly wide, many times, the vocals seem more up front on the XC's. The ortho bass is very special to me. That...- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
Sounds like the Mojo should be fine, from what others are saying. I would add: The XC's are a good enough headphone, that they are worth building your system around. (Especially if you absolutely have to have a closed headphone) Even if the Mojo isn't an ideal pairing, I would still hang on...- TexasBuck

AUDEZE LCD XC
The XC's are very resolving and detailed. If anything, a touch on the bright side, but with tremendous tight bass. I actually had a lot of problems with harshness and brightness when I paired the XC's with a bright/analytical DAC/Amp combo. With a more neutral amp, the XC's sound fantastic to...- TexasBuck

Yulong DA9
Curiosity got the best of me. I ended up adding a Violectric HAP V181 amp to the DA9. I think I've found, at least my intermediate term endgame system. The V181 adds a bit more punch and dynamics to the DA9, which I already loved. Was wondering what volume level I should be at on the DA9...- TexasBuck
