    HiFiMan Susvara

While I haven’t tried many high-end amps, my R27HE (which has the amp section of the Master 9 but with regenerative power) sounds beautiful with the Susvara. From Currawong’s review, there is some compromise on having an AIO, but believe he thought it did a great job and could easily be a...

    HiFiMan Susvara

FYI - there is an Audio GD Master 9 on the classifieds for $850 asking right now. If you can stretch your budget a bit, and if the seller is willing to negotiate, that would be a really great cost benefit. https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/audio-gd-master-9.64942/

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Quick PSA – the Audio GD R-27HE is a magnificent match for the HE6 6-screw. Listening to the original JP release of Rush's Signals and every song sounds incredible.

    Hifiman HE6-SE

Agreed on HE6SE being more mature and the impact of removing grills. I also generally agree that the eggshaped Hifimans have a treble boost relative to the round ones (especially the Arya family), but for me it's ok / not that far off when looking at the HE1000s (v1, v2, SE - haven't tried the...

    Hifiman HE6-SE

HE500 is very different. Quite dated today, but had an incredibly engaging presentation, with great bass and midrange, and balanced treble. It remains one of my favorite cans ever. HE6SE is brighter, has a less pronounced midrange and clearer bass, but has better detail retrieval and...

    Nan-6 planar headphone ?

Bringing this thread up as the NAN-7 deserves it. Phenomenal headphone and unmatched cost benefit IMO. I have 2 units, and cycle them among my other favorite cans including Susvara, HEKSE, HE6 OG, and HE6SEV2. I feel it has less resolution than the Susvara (as basically every other non-stat I...

    Hifiman HE6-SE

Pretty widespread and the original design — from HE-5 (and LE), to HE-6 and HE-500. Within Hifiman’s flagships today, HE1000SE and Susvara are also double sided and symmetrical (certain others are asymmetrical, with smaller magnets on one side)

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I did a search on the thread and can't believe I didn't find some matches on the Ultrasone Pro900 with the Lawton Angle Denon pads. That's an incredible, jaw dropping, bass combo.   Having gone through several well tiered headphones, including the Ultrasone Signature Pro (which is a frequent...

    Help choosing when I cannot audition all phones (HE-500, LCD-X, HD800, HE-6)

I currently have the HE500, the HE6 and the LCD 2.2... my favorite one is, by far, the HE500, followed by the HE6.   I honestly believe you're in the end-game territory, and would suggest you not to expect much difference between the LCD and the HE500 - the main difference will be signature...

    Review: Audio-gd NFB-7

Hey everyone, relatively unrelated question, hope you can help me! I'm brazilian, but will stay the next month and a half in NYC, working. Can I, as a non-US citizen, import an Audio-GD in the US? If so, how and how much taxes do I pay?   Sorry for the question here, but since you guys...

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Quote:   Thanks! Do you believe all these would be superior than the Ref10 from a DAC point of view?         Yeah, it does sound interesting! But then again, isn't colour on the sound something we are trying to avoid when we go to hps like the HE-6? I read that the SA...

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

By the way, received the HE6 yesterday.   WOW!! I honestly wasnt expecting such difference from the HE500. But WOW, it's unbelieveable!   I'm running it on an Emotiva Mini-X a-100 speaker amp conected either to an Emotiva ERC-2 cd player or an Audio-GD NFB-17 for now... can't imagine...

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Quote:     Hey preproman, thanks a lot for the advice! This is definately a route worth taking... however, unfortunately it goes somewhat out of my budget as I was looking for a amp+dac under $2500 usd... Still, if it's worth it, I can wait and get the dac later. Do you think the...

    HifiMAN HE-6 Planar Magnetic Headphone

Hi all!   Just pulled the trigger on a HE-6 (finally!)!   Currently, I've been using as main rig a HE500 with the couple Audio-GD NFB 6 (amp) and NFB 17 (dac). Now, I'm seriously thinking about ordering an Audio-GD Reference 10 to use with the new toy.   What do you think of this...

    HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project

hey guys, i've been running the mini-X vs. my NFB6 for the last week or so on my HE500 and LCD2 rev2...   so far, for the HE500  the a100 is definitely a step down vs the nfb6 for every music mastered with lower volume. why? i feel that my nfb6 (one of the first - not sure if new ones show...

    HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project

hey guys, going with a better Emotiva, like a UPA 200 or 500... would it be better than the a-100? if so, why?

Headphones Just For EXTREME HEAD-RATTLING Sub Bass

Since your budget is fairly nice, I'd go with a used pair of Ultrasone Pro900 (~290) + Mark Lawton Angle Pads (~100) + Fiio E11 (portable) or a HiFiMan EF2 (~120, if you'll listen to the cans only at home/work)

the own HifiMan EF2 pairs extremely well with the HE400. Definately drives them fully and runs at $170!

Quote:   For great mids and bass under $300, the Ultrasone Pro 750 comes to mind. It's an awesome hp, though somewhat coloured and closed.   Although I haven't tried it, based on its bigger brothers and reviews, the HiFiMan HE300 might be what you are looking for.

What headphones for this kind of music? High budget

I'd say that if over 75% of the music you listen is bass heavy (eletro, house, etc), and if you are crazy about lots of bass with lots of impact, then the ultrasone Pro900 would be a great choice (coupled with some Mark Lawton Denon Pads).   Otherwise, run away from them... with your budget...

Quote:   The NFB 17+NFB 6 combo is amazing. I love it! Like Steve said, the output out on the nFB6 is significantly better than the usual single ended. Yet, the se is also great - much better than (for example) the Schiit Asgard I had previously.   However, if the price is too...
