Thanks for this.  I had to figure that since they were hard-wired, and that Beyerdynamic knew the T1 would take a hit for that fact, that they likely didn't cheap out given they were trying to go up against the 800s, etc.   You confirmed my intuition!  :)

Look for a used pair of Spendor Classic 3/5 or 3/1.  Either is sublime for classical/acoustic/voice.  The Brits know how to design a wonderful sounding loudspeaker, IMHO!  Must be their reverence for the spoken word/human voice?   Keep an eye on Audiogon.  They come up for sale every few months.

YMMV, but I don't think that I will ever spend the money on a $$$ fuse.  On very rare occasion, my tube amp will take one out and having a $2 Radio Shack fuse allows me to not sweat it.   Now, if there was a $5 fuse that really was significantly better than the $2 number, maybe.  :)

I believe there is a "diminishing returns" point with cables -- all cables.  I use Signal Cable power chords and find them super for $59 each!  I could not hear a difference between them and $$$ power cables -- but I could between them and the cheap stock ones that most leave in the crate!  ...

My 800s came with Cardas Clear.  Hard to find them new for less than $650.  But if you can score a used run, I would highly recommend how they interface with the 800s.  Really a great match, IMHO.

Spendor 3/5s can be found for roughly $500.  In a small or medium room, or ideally near field, they are terrific.  Add a musical sub and you're done!  Disclaimer: Spendor Classic fan since 1980!
