    HIFIMAN HE400i 2020 Version

The stock HE-400i always sounded somewhat anemic and lean to me. I replaced the deteriorated (twice!) stock HE-400i earpads with Dekoni Elite Sheepskin, and the sound was dramatically improved, particularly in bass response and midrange warmth. I haven't felt the need to upgrade since.

Finally got my cable today. Placed my order on or around Black Friday. I guess my shipment got delayed really hard by the holiday season.

Sucks. I really need a new cable, because my stock HE-400i cable is cutting in and out on the left channel. I literally have to twist the connector stress relief around to get a signal to come back on. On a side note, does anyone know why the 2.5mm connectors connecting the Hifiman headphone...

So, I should be able to track via USPS once the item leaves Poland? Or am I misunderstanding you? Polish tracking had said "Sent From Poland" for 20 days now.

How many days does it usually take for a cable to arrive to the States? Shipping was started on Dec 12, exited Poland on Dec 14. It's Dec 26, I still haven't received the item yet, and there's no way to track the item on either UPS or USPS.

    Philips Fidelio X2?!

I absolutely love the Alessandro MS1i, 2009 edition (a softer, more neutral version of Grados). Unfortunately, they're falling apart. The earcups are literally hanging onto the headband with glue.   I love open cans in general, for their airiness and clarity. Grados epitomize this quality for...

Review by 'sTaTIx' on item 'Allen & Heath Xone:XD-40 Professional Monitoring Headphones'

I'm really loving these headphones. They have a very clear, balanced, and articulate sound, which I didn't expect at all coming from a compact, closed-back headphone that I picked up on closeout last year for an extremely low price. Fine details in audio files are resolved and can be easily...

The "huge earpads" you mention--I assume you mean the G-cush--aren't designed to be used for Alessandros or regular Grados. They're designed for the GS1000, and many people say they make the sound worse for other headphones in the Grado lineup. That could account for the fact that you get no...

I guess I shouldn't say there's "no" bass, but it's definitely not a very substantial amount compared to most other headphones I've used. The bass is enough to provide a proper backing and balance to the music, and it's decently controlled and punchy. It just doesn't resonate or extend very...

I've owned the Grado SR-125 and the Alessandro MS1i. I like them quite a bit, but there really is no bass. The reality is that Grados generally are lacking a lot of sub-bass and mid-bass reproduction. I picked up a pair of ATH-A700's for ~$80 bucks, and it wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration...

Grado's are extremely fickle with the sound they produce, dependent on how they fit on your head. If you don't position them properly on your ears, or if you don't get a good seal with the earpads, you'll experience hollow, bassless sound. Different pads change the sound a huge degree also...

Do driver in headphone degrade when age?

I have a pair of Grado SR-125's that are from around 2002-2003. I used to use them all the time, and remember how much I enjoyed their sound. However, the earpads deteriorated to the point of unusability in ~2007, and I just kept them shelved in its original box for the next 5 years. I recently...

    Noob Audio Technica Ath-A900X review

I have the ATH-A700 and would also like to know about replacement pads. From a google search, I hear that the velour/fabric pads from the ATH-AD500 (up to ATH-AD900 line) will fit. These would presumably last longer and be more comfortable than the stock pleather pads on the ATH-A500 (up to...

How about Altec Lansing UHP 606

The UHP606 is supposed to be a rebranded version of the Ultimate Ears SuperFi 4, which retail for $129. Comparing all the specifications of both earphones corroborate this fact. Considering the Altec Lansings are only $25 shipped, I'd say it's a worthwhile purchase. I got mine a couple weeks...

    Grado SR-125 vs MS1 (and maybe 225)

I would go for the MS-1 over the 225 or 125. The Alessandros are made for studio use so they're inherently more balanced, neutral, and less fatiguing than the Grados, which makes them better in my opinion.
