Is the Valhalla 2 a big step up compared to the Vali? I bought my HD800's this spring and I've been using them with the Vali ever since, sounds very good imho but you know, you can always find something better :) 

Seriously!? Is this as good as the Gungnir as earwaxxer states? I was thiking of buying the Gungnir but if this is as good thats money wasted...

I have a Schiit Vali with a musicstreamer II and my HD800. Is a source upgrade the way to go?

My Vali is ringing like crazy, if I touch the volume knob it starts ringing, if I touch the headphone cable it starts ringing etc etc. However, I'm not sending it back since I'm across the atlantic. :/ 

As of now I don't know which of the two I prefer the most. The sound is a bit more forward with the Vali and more relaxed with the Crack. But in the end I guess my vote would go the the Crack...

Hey! Thanks! :)    For the power-tube I'm using a Sylvana 6AS7G tube and a 12AU7WA for the input. Nothing expensive or fancy!    After a few more hours of playing music they have loosened up considerably, the treble has calmed down more and the phones do get more and more enjoyable to listen...

Yepp! Thing is that the tubes that came with the Crack originally are/were broken so using the introduced some horrible hum and crackling noises in the left channel. Bought two other tubes which work good except for the slight background hum.

I payed the equivalent of ~80 usd for a pair of HD650 basically unused and in mint condition. I still haven't used them :) 

Okay I'll keep that in mind!    if not solid core silver cable, what silver cable do you recommend? And if you buy a quad cable with four conductors in the same cable, do you strip away the outer shielding to be able to make the split? 

I thought that I'd start a small project, make a balanced cable for my upcoming Audeze LCD 2. I haven't made a cable myself before and from reading a bit this is what I need as far as I know;    2 mini XLR's for the headphone  1 y-split, either shrink or similar or a physical y-split piece ...
