Kevin Gilmore Amps - Dynalo, Dynamid, Dynahi, Dynamite - Nomenclature explained
I must get at least one PM a week asking me about the the various incarnations of DIY Gilmore Amps. Perhaps this thread can keep the explanation in circulation. First of all, I had nothing to do with the crazy names. Dynalo = The Original Gilmore Dynamic Amp. Since Kevin Gilmore designed...- dgardner

All obsessive hobbies eventually blend together...
Tonight I'm sitting here for the third night of transistor beta measuring 1000 parts and matching them... And it occurred to me that I truly need to have my head examined. Yes, another innocent hobby gone overboard. I must confess that my hobbies are all obessive and run serially through time...- dgardner

Designing Audio Power Supplies for International Use
The purpose of this thread is start a DIY discussion on the design requirements to make a friendly and internationally acceptable power supply for split rail audio projects. Besides that obvious fact that international primary voltages vary (100, 120, 220, 240, etc), there seems to be a lot of...- dgardner

Keeping it REAL with A/B Switch Boxes to compare amps
Last night I built up an A/B Switch box with two headphone jack inputs and one headphone jack output. Nothing new here. Then I started to go through my inventory of headphone amps and try to confirm/deny the "sonic differences" between them all. A created a stereo test tone waveform a few...- dgardner

Question: Gain Select Switch circuitry
A few people have asked me about front panel gain select switches for the dynalo and dynahi amplifiers. It seems desirable to have at least two gain settings, one lower and one higher. The question is: What is the smartest way to implement the switch in the circuit? My thinking is that if...- dgardner

Ideas for making the Gilmore Dynahi Amplifier easier to build
I would like to assemble the group's opinion on what things would make the Kevin Gilmore dynahi an easier and more attractive project for the do-it-yourself crowd. Right now, the build complexity seems to be more the issue than the total cost. This amp is not cheap to make, but is certainly...- dgardner

Another PCB Layout - Gilmore Dynalo / Dynamid
I've been looking to test drive some new layout tools for PCB. I've built a Gilmore Dynalo using the toner transfer method with the Headwize project posting. Works great. My goal is to complete a new PCB layout and share it with the group. I also plan to have the boards fabricated at a...- dgardner
