I'm so tempted. I have a UHA-4 with the stock AD8610, but really like the idea of this with the OPA209. If I had ordered the UHA-4 with 209 this would have been easier to ignore.

Canadian deals are a true rarity, whilst USA deals are prevalent.

Don't the Monster IEMs tend to fall apart? Or am I misremembering? So what's the warranty situation for those outside of Canada who snag one through a helpful Canadian?

FYI EQu has been recently improved. Now you can use your remote inline control buttons as well as play/pause from the locked screen. I find it to be very useful these days, with very few deficiencies.

Oddly enough, powered speakers have never really seemed to pass the test of time at Paradigm. They made Studio Reference Active 20's and Active 40's for a few short years, but those were discontinued. They're extremely coveted in the used market. Anybody interested in this active Atom...

I've just realized that I've had the FTX90's for quite a while now, and since I got them I haven't listened to the GR07. In fact, the only other IEM I've used in this time is the B2, and that was only once! There's something magical about these IEMs which really draws me in.

I confess I'm more interested in the A2 powered speakers. I think a pair of these would be awesome on either side of my computer monitor.

Whereas I believe the JVC has more bass than the GR07. The GR07 extends a bit deeper, but the area under the graph is clearly much larger on the JVC to my ears. Basically I believe I'm hearing what the graph posted by Inks claims:

It's good that you feel you made the correct decision for yourself, but it's worth stating that these are wonderful IEM's - especially for the price. I think we on HF make mountains out of mole hills on occasion, and certainly when keeping to the bigger picture, the FXT90 really shines.

Bass goes lower now. One of two reasons: 1. break in continues 2. now wearing over the ear which allows a deeper insertion Imaging and dynamics continue to impress.

I can't wait for mine to be reasonably broken in to compare with the GR07. I have a feeling the FTX90 will sound better due to the exciting sound signature, but the GR07 will sound duller while being more accurate.

If you're using those Jays, then perhaps my Jays foam will fit.

I wonder what I'm doing wrong then? I have a great seal, though the phones do not insert that deeply. Are you using the stock tips? Worn down? I'm trying to understand why I don't have the same experience as you and i2ehan. As I say, I definitely have a great seal.

Thanks! I couldn't understand the comments before, but I gather it's considered a minor hump by many standards. I'm very sensitive to mid bass hump, so I guess it's more just my issue than anything particularly aberrant with the IEMs. I'll probably EQ it down in the future. The other comment...

So you hear a mid-bass hump as well? I saw that you downplayed the mid-bass last week, and i2ehan (and possibly others here) don't perceive a strong mid-bass at all. But if you are hearing it after all, maybe I'm not going crazy. :p

I must be doing the same thing since I've noted some nastiness in the mid-bass area. Although after some hours of use, I'm not certain it's still there. Hard to tell whether it changed to to mechanical break in or perhaps my brain is adjusting. Or I simply haven't been paying enough attention...

I will also say that the FTX90 is an odd IEM. I've been listening for a few days, have perhaps 30 or so hours on it now, and I still cannot really wrap my head around it yet. If you are looking to get it out of curiosity and for something a bit different (but very very good), it will satisfy...

I love that you thanked me before I even answered! :) Treble seem to me to be somewhere between GR07 and the CK/10 (or B2, or DBA-02 if you like). It's entirely what I want from an IEM. But as you say, it doesn't sound your cup of tea. I find the GR07 treble to be slightly (very slightly) too...

Can always experiment with trimming down foams too.
