I have not written a thing about SQ. I think OP is able to tell whether his gf can get over the looks for SQ, I was simply warning him to prevent any bad suprises.

  Best I found. And as you see the headband is barely extended. The more you extend the worst it looks, so for your average long slim face, they look bad imo.

I'll warn you right now the DJ1/580s look completely dumb once you put them on your head. The headband is about an inch away from your head on the sides and they look pretty dorky. Don't know about the Pros, but the headband design seems to be the same across the two lines.     Quote...

I really don't get how you want to pull sound from the HDMI input of your monitor.   EDIT: nvm, just realised your monitor had a jack. Still, I doubt your monitor's jack is of better quality than the one of your soundcard.

Beatport has super overpriced lossless files for download, around a buck extra per track. Other than that I think CD is pretty much the only way. Honestly for electronica 320kbps is great, really not much of a difference.

I have a pair of SR125 and Grados are indeed very bright for electronica. You could look into Ultrasones. I got a pair of DJ1 and I'm really liking them.

That's the secret. With a full beard, you can wear w/e the f you want. I wore Grados for a while before switching to my DJ1s. I thought it had its style. Quote:

I was in pretty much the same situation as you are, and I picked up the DJ1's, which are the same as the HFI-580, for 170$ shipped from B&H. Sound is alike to the SR125i but a bit bassier. I gotta say I'm really satisfied with my purchase.
