Good songs to test bass on headphones?

Quote: Because the bass is amazing, or because the song is amazing??   Oh right, both. :)

    Headphones... Help!

Beyerdynamic DT990 Pros are comporable or cheaper than Senn 595s and might be your best bet. They're "true to track" enough -- not perfect but they won't necessarily steer you way wrong. They have the best bass response in the price range BY FAR in my opinion. 400-700 range mids are a bit dipped...

    Open-Back Mod for Denon D2000/5000/7000 - FR Measurements Available! - Updated 11-1-2011

I'm interested in the 2000s.... if we remove the factors of sound isolation/weight/comfort and just judge the factory-closed D2000s on its frequency and dynamic response... where does the consensus say it rates against an open-back pair like AKG 701s or Beyer 880s.   I'm not someone who...

    DT990Pro Right Driver Rattle ?

Yes Beyers need to be cleaned from hairs. 880s and 990s, hairs don't have too much trouble getting through into the area where they start adding rattle to your bass response. My advice would be to have a pair of tweezers handy so you can remove stray hairs from the exterior padding/foam... the...

Best headphones for trance/ electronic dance music

Beyer DT 990 Pro's or Premiums would be great. I have the 250 ohm Pros and though this isn't my favorite genre, I dabble... and they rock.

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

Forgive me for being Daft... Beyer is confusing me again.... as far as 880s go, the 250 ohm is easiest to drive, correct? And the 600 ohm is toughest to drive? Trying to make sure I have this basic concept understood since I'm now eager to try the 600 ohm vers after the recent rave review on...

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

I see a different graph for the 880 250 ohm model on Headroom. I see this one:           Quote:

Headphones for Classical Music -- Which are best and how much will I need to invest?

Quote: This is true, the 880 250 ohms model is rather easy to drive.   I'm working from memory of my departed 880s but I think the bass is no more and no less better/worse than burned in 701s. Neither set (after burn in) ever seriously wowed me with its bass, and neither ever...

    AD900 or Q701?

Quote: 1) Yeah the Q701s are perfect for you then.   2)   3) "Fun" ... to me that's a set of cans or speakers that aren't aggressive in frequencies where I'm overly sensitive. Obviously this paints me into declaring the cliche but true "fun is different for everyone." Ugh.  ...

    Honest 'phones for EQ-ing

Are you saying 'closed' and just meaning full sized over-the-ear, or do you actually need a closed back? If you can do open, then the Q701s are the best fit I've ever found for EQing. Beyer 880s would be my 2nd choice. Just don't get the 701s if you mix 12 or more hours a day or else you'll...

    AD900 or Q701?

I'd like to chime in on some of the stuff discussed in this thread. I own the Q701s and have owned the 880s.   In my opinion yes, the Q701s are shy in the lowest register (I feel they're good down to ~110-100 hz), but they're not as weak as some folks are suggesting.   2 things -- the...

Headphones for Classical Music -- Which are best and how much will I need to invest?

I have the Q701s which I primarily use to mix hybrid orchestral music. They really, really excel with orchestral / acoustic instruments. And they're not that tough to drive.... Apogee Duet or Apogee One are totally sufficient.

How to equalize your headphones: A Tutorial

I'm relatively new to this forum but I've been a headphone user forever. I write and mix music for a living...   For any other AKG Q701/K701/etc owners, try these settings. Here's a screenshot of my EQ plug-in inside Logic.  ...

[GUIDE] Sonic Differences Between DT770-DT990 Models & More

I have a large head and I own the DT990 Pro's and the AKG Q701s. I used to own the DT880 Pros. The 880s and 990s are totally fine comfort-wise but the Q701s are in a league of their own. Like you said, YMMV, but for big-headed blokes like me the Q701s feel like they're just floating up there...
