Got my Magni and Modi in the mail yesterday. Plugged my DJ100 (stock pads) in and I can tell that things sound a bit smoother. I'm not experienced with all of this at all, but I don't notice big differences. This is just comparing between listening to 320kbps songs on my iTune through my laptop...

Can't wait! I thought that I may have a terrible time using these headphones without the Schiit gear, but I'm glad that's not the case. The way these sound by themself makes the waiting a lot more bearable. 

Just received my Q701s today! I'm listening to them straight out of my 1st gen Macbook. The music (modern country) sounds good to me!   I've got the Magni and Modi ordered, but the Modi is on backorder until March 5. This will give me some time to get used to the sound of the headphones...

Just bought a pair of Q701's! I'm estimated to get them by Friday. I'm so excited, I just had to share. =)

Am I weird for thinking that the bass on these headphones is on the verge of being too much? I think I might just need to stop listening to bass-emphasized songs (hip-hop).   The bass on the M50's were definitely getting a bit too much for me. I felt like the bass was making my ears hurt...

I received my DJ100's today! Listening to them for the past 2 hours. I don't know too much about what to listen for when judging headphones, but I like the way they sound out of the box.   Seems like the seal on these aren't as good as the M50. Maybe it's because the earpads aren't as thick...

The price fluctuates a bit from day-to-day and even during the day.   I got mine for $46.88 yesterday, so I'm sure the price will drop again in the next few hours.

Thanks for the response, bowei006.    Those were actually the reasons why I was considering the two. I wanted something that was an amp/dac combo. I assumed that the M-Stage with Dac option would be similar to the NFB-12's amp/dac.    So you're saying the dac on the NFB-12 is much better...

From all my reading, it seems like the Matrix M-Stage is the most common recommendation for the Q701.    I also see the NFB-12 recommended quite frequently too.   I wasn't able to get a direct comparison between the NFB-12 and M-Stage using the search function. Does anyone have any...
