The new IEM of Vsonic VSD 3S ( impression updated by smailbz)
Any other VSD3S users with Comply tips? I have some T-400s, but the bore diameter is too large. They do fit onto the nozzle snugly, but they fully seat rather than seating around the notch like the stock foams. The T-400s seated that way don't penetrate deeply enough for my ear canals to get...- RoboKrikit

Is the HE-400 laid back?
I currently own the HiFiMan HE-400, Denon D2000, and Grado SR225i (just got the HE-400s, owned the others for 1.5+ years). From the sound you describe, the best match might be the SR225i. The HE-400s are the darkest of the three, though personally I think they sound fantastic with the...- RoboKrikit

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
Quote: I've only had mine for a few days, but they sounded great when I listened to Sonny Rollins' The Bridge earlier tonight. I highly advise getting a crossfeed plugin for this type of music for headphones, though. The mastering on some of these albums will often have the main...- RoboKrikit

Auditioning Advice?
I'd definitely do this, but not just for comfort assessment. I find that when I A/B headphones rapidly, it is too easy to focus in what is "missing" from a headphone rather than how nice it sounds as a whole. As an example, moving from something like the HD650 vs many other cans, attributes like...- RoboKrikit

New Hifiman Headphone HE-400 is out
I finally got my HE-400s in the other day. I let my EF1 warm up while I got them out of the packaging. The Canare cable they come with is pretty solid; I prefer something simple and easily replaceable. The cups came "out of alignment" as seen in previous pics, which is entirely a non-issue...- RoboKrikit

Poll: Styling of D-7000 vs D-7100
Silver and brown look good together. I don't see the problem. I guess you can't please everyone. Maybe they'll release a black edition. :)- RoboKrikit

What's the first song you play on a new pair of headphones?
I test with a bunch of stuff, but I have an old tradition of going to the first two Boston albums first. Here's a few concatenated sample songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E98nCeCIpzo&hd=1 Peace of Mind, 00:00 - 05:03 Opens with acoustic guitar and tambourine, then rich...- RoboKrikit

Challenge my decision: New Gaming/Movie/Music Headphones ($200-$320)
I love my D2000s, but if you are going to be throwing them in a backpack and carrying them around a lot, I would look for something else. These things are for home use. The build quality is fine, but they don't have a rugged design for portability. If you're very worried about isolation at...- RoboKrikit

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: NEW Nuforce uDAC-2 with 24/96 - USB DAC AMP with line out and S/PDIF out
Is there a difference in sound, volume, or both between the headphone jack and the RCA output? I just ordered my first dedicated headphone amp, but my DAC is the uDAC-2 HP ($99 no RCA jacks version). Would I be missing much or causing problems by feeding the new amp through the uDAC-2's...- RoboKrikit
