Yes they do, I use one as well as many others. There are DACs, DAC/Amps that take digital USB from Nokias, Samsungs and iPads w/ camera connection kits. I think the USB receiver chip has to be capable as well. PM'd.

Michael, are you saying that all phones that feature "USB on the Go" as digital output will not work with the M8? You lost me there. These phones provide digital USB out but need the DAC to be self powered, they do not work if they need to provide power. There are many Nokia and Samsung phones...

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

One thing that has grown on me is the look of the case. It seems like it made for a phone or other source to sit in the valley on top. Likewise, a battery pack could nestle underneath as well. So Michael, if I ran USB digital from a non apple device, could I also use the other USB port for...

x4! Agreed on both counts. This device should not be charging any devices, that makes no sense. You would have an idevice or Android device w/ tons of charge left after the amp is dead. An external battery pack powers the M8 and your source, you need one anyway when they finally run out if you...

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

I'm getting a really bad feeling about the direction it's going now. First it was people don't want to keep a little gold 1/8 adapter plugged in so kill the Line out. Now it's people want battery life w/o using an external battery when the device is already the size of a brick anyway. I thought...

That's a shame. In that case, it's probably best to stop using the term 'line-out' from this point on since there won't be one. Just too confusing. This is a bit of hopeful thinking. You can mitigate the affects of a pot (such as miller capacitance, etc.) by reducing attenuation but it never...

^ This is an option? Just to clarify the argument for LO versus 1/8 HO. By tolerating a 1/4 adapter plug that just sits passively in the 1/4 jack and would only become an issue when removing it for a 1/4 headphone plug, you gain the following advantage: 1-Use of the M8 as a DAC only 2-Ability...

    The Centrance HiFi M8 thread

Now this is a real shame. There is no way running analog output through the pot section is equivalent to LO quality. This decision in my opinion gives greater consideration to those too lazy to use a tiny 1/8 adapter plug over those who have amps that might be more transparent and capable than...

Brilliant response Michael, you nailed it perfectly and thank you for considering such requests.  For my particular needs I'll be pre-ordering the M8 w/ an impedance selection of 1/10/120 then.      Many thanx!    Since we are on the subject, I presume '1' is the lowest possible value w/...

So by your logic, noone should buy the M8 because all the available impedance selections are too high anyway. Btw, your assertion that 4 ohms output-z is ideal for Audezes is completely off. So is 2 ohms for IEMs especially when many have multiple drivers w/ crossovers. The 8ohm is a made up...

No...no LOL, ROFL, or LMAO. 120 ohms is actually a 16 year old industry standard, unlike a 960 ohm fabrication. 300-600 ohm German phones w/ specific impedance curves are also quite real as well...

Quick question about impedance selection. Why 1/2/10 as opposed to 1/10/120 for example? Since this is designed to drive tougher phones, wouldn't having a 120ohm option for IEC spec make sense for some of the top end German phones? Also, is this the same potentiometer found in the DACport?
