~150$ IEM to Listen to Electronic Dance Music (FXT90s vs. EPH-100s)
The best IEM at that price is definitely the TF10's, but they may or may not suit your preference.- Chime Bells

Best headphones in $200-260 price range/amp question
I suggest you avoid 70X, since they need decent amps. I agree that 598 might be a good choice.- Chime Bells

AD900 or Q701?
Quote: I have to admit that I have never tried AD900 myself. As for the 701s, they are the pair of cans with the weakest bass I have ever heard, much weaker than the 880, ESW9, 580, 325 and many other cans. Or maybe I'm tuned to my HF2 now.- Chime Bells

Sennheiser IE6, is it fake?
I don't think so. It's from Amazon itself, not any dealers residing in amazon. The price isn't that overwhelmingly low as well anyway- Chime Bells

AD900 or Q701?
Q701 is pretty weak on the bass side, lacking the punch you need. Plus, Q701 needs a decent amp to perform acceptably. So my vote would go to AD900.- Chime Bells

An open letter to Sony
Quote: If you think about the trend in sony's CD players and MP3 layers in general, they are getting smaller, more portable; but definitely less able to drive good headphones. I'm not saying that sony is not SQ, but Sony is definitely sacrificing SQ for trendiness, which I don't like.- Chime Bells

The next step! Where should I go from here?
To clarify myself: I do believe that a better headphone would give better performance than a not-so-good headphone with an amp, for the same price. Amp would be essential for some relatively high-end phones, but not those mentioned by ag04.- Chime Bells

An open letter to Sony
Obviously, Sony can't make much profit from the old X series. Sony is more towards style and trend rather than serious listening- Chime Bells
