    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

I don't think the Liquid spark will be enough to drive the K612. You'd also need a better DAC if you want them to sound really good. A headphone doesn't have to be lean if it's open, if you don't have body in the K612 that's usually a sign of it being underpowered.

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

It could be that yours is simply not properly driven. The Drop CTH can drive it pretty well, I have plenty of bass with SDAC and even more with a DF Red as DAC and everything is upfront. The K612 is known to be very hard to drive (it's not just about power). I once had the K601 (which is...

The New HD 560S: Linear Acoustics at a Breakthrough Value

Anyone using it directly from Dragonfly Red or CTH+SDAC? I'd be curious if these tame the highs (since they do on the MSR7 for example). Thanks!

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

Changing the pads on your beloved K612 will also change its sound. The deeper/more angled the earpad (larger distance from driver) the more upper treble you are going to have (and if I'm not mistaken then K712 has deeper/angled pads). If you are looking for a more natural experience I recommend...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

After owning the MSR7 and the R70x for a long time I find them quite the opposite. MSR7 is analytical with a slight warmness to it, a bit lean on the bass and a bit forward in the highs, with very good soundstage for a closed can. R70x on the other hand has elevated bass, the sound is much...

    AKG K601 & K612 Pro Owners... UNITE!!

A bit late to the party I guess but I just got my K612 a week ago. I had a K601 a few years ago but I didn't like them that much because it sounded too distant, cold and analytical with the cheap dac/amp I had that time. Now I thought I'd give the K612 a go since I have a warmish amp (NAD D3020...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

I had the same impression from different sources but as soon as I plug it in my Huawei tablet or my NAD D3020 it is a completely different headphone - much more balanced with more bass and less highs. Depends on source I guess and it's very picky.

Slightly, but fits well. Difference is a few mm only.

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Looks like this, but I ordered it almost a year ago probably from another seller (I'm sure it was cheaper than this). https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Leatherette-Replacement-Ear-Pads-Cushion-For-Audio-Technica-ATH-R70x-Headphone/32812213550.html

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Hi! I just bought back my R70x 2 days ago to give it a chance with my NAD D3020 (previously I sold the R70x because it was a bit too polite and grainy in the highs). The D3020 does magic with my MSR7 so I thought it would be a good match with the R70x as well. Unfortunately that wasn't the case...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

Yes, that's it. It can drive my Monitor Audio RX6 floorstanders easily along with my headphones. Yesterday I got my ATH-R70x back and they also sound great with the NAD. The DAC may be the weakest part of it but the overall sound is very pleasant and what I learnt from all my experiences is that...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

I had the same experience about a year ago when my NAD D3020 arrived. I wanted to simplify my desktop rig so sold almost everything including desktop amp, DAC, cables etc. I even sold my speakers and bought more efficient Monitor Audios, I kept my MSR7 and NAD HP50 only. The idea was that the...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

Thanks! I really like them. I have had a few audio-technicas (both open and closed) and the A1000Z are easily the best of all.

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

I received my A1000Z yesterday. First impressions are great, they are very comfy (well most ATs are for me) and they are lightweight. It feels a bit weird first like being cheap or something, I usually appreciate some weight, it's definitely light (and it's a good thing comfortwise). The sound...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

Thank you for this great comparison Arteom! It was a pleasure to read it. Sometimes the MSR7 can be edgy sounding, but it can be well tamed with a "softer" amplifier. I'm afraid a significantly softer sounding headphone would be boring on the long run, as it happened with the R70x. On the other...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Hello! I've had AD700, AD900, AD2000, W1000X, AD900X and now the R70X. In terms of soundstage the AD700 is the deepest, and it's fairly wide too. AD900 is wider but much less deeper. The AD2000 (and I heard the X is more or less the same from this point of view) is very upfront, everything is...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Guys, don't know if someone already made this, but if you close the ANV's front "breathing" hole, it will become something much-much better than before. ANV was my favourite KZ from the first moment, but yes, bass is behind mids and there's a peak in the upper mids, it can be a bit sharp - those...

[NEW] Audio Technica CKR series (CKR10, CKR9, CKR7)

Had the same feeling at first, but with time (20-30 hours i guess) they settlet down a bit and also opened up, but most importantly, I use larger inner diameter tips, they lower the bass while making soundstage wider, and treble more lively - so basically more balanced overall. If I go back to...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Nothing wrong with my hearing, nor with my age (I hope so! :) I am 31 BTW. Yes, the upper mids/lower treble is forward/upfront, but I wouldn't call them hot, you should try ATH-W1000X, that has some hot troble for comparison :) Highs are smooth and detailed, and since they are right in front...

    Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread

Hi guys!   I own almost every KZ which are considered good (EDR1, ED3, ED9, ATE, ED10, ANV) among other good chinese earphones like the Rock Zircon, but I have to admit that KZ ANV (g.k. version, CKW1000ANV replica) is absolutely the best of all. I wonder how can it be so lightly recommended...

The AKG K550 Impressions and Discussion Thread!

You should try one of the dampening mods, it's easy, you just have disassamble it, and put some dampening material at the back of the driver, it will make the treble softer, more fluid (rather than being sharp and plastic sounding). You should try different materials with different thickness to...
