Mytek Liberty THX AAA headphone Amp Impression Thread

I've had no problems. It's been great. One minor annoyance is that the amp doesn't remember the last input used, so you have to change inputs when you turn it on. That being said, I'm considering selling it and the liberty dac 2. They're both way overkill for the rest of my setup (Spotify, and...

Mytek Liberty THX AAA headphone Amp Impression Thread

Caveat emptor: I'm very much an "amateur" audiophile. Just got mine yesterday. First impression (after maybe 3 hours of listening): impressed. My setup at least for right now is: schiit modi multibit -> liberty amp -> mrspeakers / dan clark Aeon 2 closed. Comparing to my previous amp (first gen...

    populate half a σ22 board to make a σ11?

haha yup. I'm cheap and want to have an economic upgrade path.   hmmm, i missed CR2's difference when I did my initial comparison of the schematics.  Now im curious, how does CR2?   side note: I'm an ece who unfortunately has very little experience with analog.

    populate half a σ22 board to make a σ11?

I want to populate half of a sigma 22 board, effectively making a sigma 11, but allowing for future expansion (i.e. i would be able to convert the 11 to the 22 when I need to).   I would essentially be making just the non-tracking side (i.e. the positive side) of the 22.   Thoughts? Any...

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

Thanks. That really isn't too bad at all, especially if the output off of it is as clean as people claim. What are you powering with that? an M3?

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

speaking of, I haven't really done the math / looked around at s11 builds. Off the top of your head how much of a hole is that going to put in my wallet? (ballpark)     ~elrom

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

excellent point null...   i could mate it with the s11... a bunch of people have suggested that...   hmm, i should probably start ordering parts, atleast for the m3

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

amb doesn't think there would be much of an improvement either...   the real benefit for my wallet would be if I reused the sigma22 for the ck2 or the beta22...

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

i did some digging over at the amb forums and it looks like there have been some forays into m3 + s22 combos. However, those were specifically for the balanced variety.

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

Quote: That's what I'm thinking. I'm sure this isn't a new idea. Maybe I can ask Ti Kan or post it on the amb forums.

    M³ + σ22 = awesome?

So looks like I'm going to take on building an M³. I've had the the "crazy" idea of dropping the rail splitter and feeding it the dual rails from the σ22. Has anyone done / heard of anyone doing this? Any thought on whether this will work well?   Thanks.   ~elrom   oh and as an fyi...

    onkyo tx-sr805 as my dac

Looks like im leaning toward getting the k702s. I'll probably build one of the diy amps (that's still another massive decision to make, so many options... :) )   I currently run hdmi from my machine to my receiver, it's a tx-sr805.   I'm wondering if l'll get good results by feeding the...

Best cans for separation (under $300)

Hi everybody! (this is my first post, although I've been a silent reader for a little while)   Before everyone screams "search!". I spent literally all day yesterday sorting through dozens of threads. None of the "under $300" threads focused or cared about separation. Many were concerned...
