Quote: I've already been doing that to listen to normal CDs...I'm more curious if that specific receiver will allow me to use RCA cables between the SACD player (in quote). (Sony STR DE345) EDITE: In order to play SACD through multichannel 5.1- DesireUsername

Boston HD7 or 5.1
I'm curious if anyone is familiar with these bookshelf speakers. My dad had a pair in the closet so I hooked them up until I plan on upgrading to a 5.1 setup. I'm curious how much better/worse my setup would sound if I bought another pair of Boston HD7, with a sub, and center speaker to make my...- DesireUsername

So this. You would plug in the analog RCA cables from the SACD player to the inputs on the far left...then speakers are attached on the far right? All the speakers would have the weird cables that you strip yourself except for the sub, right?(As you can tell I'm not very savvy when it...- DesireUsername

BLIND TEST: 128kbps mp3 vs Lossless
Cool test, vote in spoiler below I'd propose we do this test again, but with no poll. Someone merely posts the files, then votes are sent through PM to the user and clocked without everyone being able to see. The only posts in the thread would be to acknowledge you voted, not how you...- DesireUsername

need advice
Well the 555 is, in essence, the same thing as the 595, which is the step up from the 555. They apparently have the same drivers (here's the mod for 555>595 ). Where is was going with the 555 mod was that is the next "step" in the Sennheiser ladder, the next would be the 598. Then you hit the...- DesireUsername

Austin City Limits
Howdy folks, I'll be 18 next year and was thinking of heading down to Austin for ACL. If anyone has gone I was just curious as to how the experience went for you, and if you had any advice on getting tickets, places to stay, ect. I've never really gone to concerts except some smaller stuff...- DesireUsername

Quote: Interesting thought. Do you really need a receiver that has multichannel inputs? My SACD player has RCA inputs on the back where I assume you could just plug in 5.1 speakers- DesireUsername

Quote: Yes, not sure what I was trying to say, meant RS. Wow, the PS500 looks pretty crazy. I'm not sure I'm up to that price tag yet, but I'll keep an eye out for used ones. What exactly is the advantage of the PS500 over the RS2? Better drivers, warmer sound, soundstage? EDIT...- DesireUsername

Grado Fan Club!
I've really been leaning towards the 325s. Just curious, how giant of a difference is there between say....the 80->325->RF2? Overall I can gather that the higher you go they seem to be brighter/more detailed. If I were to buy the 80s then I would likely look into modding them, not so...- DesireUsername
