Hi all, although i can build amps im quite lacking in understanding how they actually work.  I was looking at the AMB Beta 22 designs as i'd like to build one eventually and noticed that the design can use 2, 3, or 4 of the same board for different iterations of the amp.  I think i understand...

thank you very much! I did a lot of research on Stax and saw that they also use thin diaphragms on either side of the stators? for dust covers.  Do you notice it coloring the sound at all though i wonder?

yes after doing more research i'm realizing how power hungry they are... Well battery tech is advancing all of the time! maybe i'll figure a way to power some full sized can on the go.

Hey everybody i was wondering if there's a portable headphone amp for electrostatics besides the Stax SR001 MK2.  I'm not even sure if they for more than just the IEM Stax either.  Anyway is it really that hard to make a portable power supply for them? or just not profitable? thanks   -Sean

i read that thread and thats how i first heard about the mixamp etc.  Question would you recommend a dedicated sound card with CMSS-3D or a mixamp with dolby headphone? also could i use an AMB mini^3 as a preamp for the mixamp safely?
