Best/favorite concept album?
Roger Waters - Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking -
I want the best way to play my cds.
Quote: While my reference system has a dedicated cdp, for casual listening, I use a boulder modded squeezebox and boulder ps w/ separate dac and it beats many cps I have owned. Another really good option is a used logitech transporter, then you don't need a separate dac. I'm moving more...- jazznap

beatles on usb stick (interesting marketing idea)
I have yet to accidently put a cd through the washing machine What I don't get with the Beatles usb is why Apple made it in flac when their own media player doesn't support the format. Seems like they effectively left out their own biggest market share. -
Jazz recommendations appreciated
Steve Swallow - I don't see him mentioned much, but his bass playing and albums are always tasty. -
Favorite Soundtracks
I'm not a big fan of soundtracks since they are often just a compilation of songs that may or may not go together, but occasionally some just strike a chord. What are some of your favs? A few of mine include: The Nightmare Before Christmas Big Time The Crow Repo Man -
Your 10 favorite Songwriters?

So who would you put on the halftime show? Destroyed my memory of a legend.
How about David Copperfield making the Super Bowl disappear and reappear in Hawaii? While the Who was pretty bad, I think the worse was when Townsend tried to sing harmony. If he would have stayed quite, it wouldn't have been so bad. -

please recommend some good vocal jazz!
I love Ray Anderson for some great tongue and cheek vocals (aside from his amazing trombone playing). Check out his song "Tough Guy", classic. -

Recommendation on AKG K702 cable.
I've been happy with my SAA cable, but I picked it up at a good price on the FS forum. I prefer it over my previous Zu Mobius-like (made by another head-fi'er) cable. In regards to the Moon cables, though I haven't used them w/ AKGs, I oddly find my HD600 silver dragon actually darker than my...- jazznap

WOO Audio 3+ experience
Excellent thread! Thanks for keeping it updated. While I haven't rolled nearly the same number of tubes, my (limited) results are very close. For me, I've happily settled into a Sylvania 7236 with Amparex Bugle Boy combo (though admitted don't know the years). I've rolled a Sylvania 5998...- jazznap

All of them. It's only a few albums, not counting the various live offerings. -
What Are Some of Your Favorite Sad Songs
I was listening to Willie Nelson's "Little Things" last night and it made me start to think about sad songs that I really enjoy. What are some of yours? -

Live at the Village Vanguard Discussion and Poll
I have all the recordings listed in the poll but by far, my favorite is Bill Evans' "Turn Out the Stars: Final Village Vanguard Performances". The Waltz/Sunday set is very good, Secret Sessions' quality lacks a bit, but his final performances are outstanding in imho. Much more passion and... -
Name your 10 Favorite JAZZ Pianists...any order
Not in any order. Bill Evans Jessica Williams Cecil Taylor Chick Corea Thelonious Monk Keith Jarrett Bugge Wesseltoft Ran Blake Wayne Horvitz Matthew Shipp Also, it is hard to limit to just 10; sorry Herbie, Mal, Marilyn, Enrico, and many other who didn't make the cut) -
So what do you think was Chick Corea's best band?
My choice is Origin. It has some of his best, most mature writing. Especially for a larger group. Their live boxset is a awesome and a great value. I never really thought of Corea as leader in Circle, or even RTF for that matter. While he wrote a lot of the material and was certainly a... -
Punk Recommendations?
Many have been mentioned, but I don't think I saw two of my favs: Misfits The Rollins Band -
Beginner's looking for advice
I recently picked up an older Marantz CD63LE dirt cheap on craigslist. They sometimes pop up on agon also. It has a preamp that feeds a built-in headphone output. I haven't used the headphone output, but the player sounds pretty good feeding my HR-2. Going with something like this would give you...- jazznap
