OPA627 / LT1364
Jude, There is enough of a sound difference between the lt1364 and opa627, that is would be worth giving it a shot, IMO. You may prefer the opa627.- puppyslugg

Do opamps really make a difference?

Troubleshooting a Creek
It's possible something after the resistor is drawing an excessive amount of current, causing the resistor to open. If the resistor blows again, you have other problems, obviously.- puppyslugg
