The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Quote:     Hi Focker, sorry for the late reply, was out of town.   More great info., and I totally agree with the thinking going into those amps: just translate the music with as little coloration as possible. I want to listen to the music, not the gear distorting its sonic...

Quote:   Lol, you may very well be right.   Quote:   More great info, thanks!   I'll have to make up my mind between the Jazz and Classic. There are a few other amps out there too, but I've never had a Meier product and they look to be very nice, not to mention many speak...

Quote:   Yea, just hate to spend that much on an amp.   Quote:   Great info, thanks!   My other cans will get little to no use or are not hard to drive anyway. I don't plan on getting another dac for this setup, but I'm not too worried about crossfeed.   Looks like the...

Quote:   I've got some tubes to play with, but, as you might guess, I don't think they make a significant difference in sound most of the time (again, blind testing reveals lots of interesting things ).   I don't own setups worth tens of thousands either...for many reasons I won't go...

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

I like the 940's, pretty good all rounder with some hi-fi traits for the money. Acoustic with the T1's are in another category however.   Yep, plain cables. I was always skeptical of exotic cables but that solidified after several blind tests with high end cables and reasonably priced ones...

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

Quote:   I don't think so, the physics is not there to support that rolling opamps alters sound in any discernible empirical way and physics is definitive (or at least not to be overturned by mere flawed human perception which sometimes makes us think the laws of physics somehow don't...

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Quote:   I agree (and I'll add presence, scale, realism, and emotive impact: with speakers you feel/live the music, with headphones you are more of a disinterested spectator). With the many serious audiophiles I know (I'm a member of a local group) most don't even "bother" with...

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

Quote:     I just got my T1's yesterday and I've been switching between the Matrix and the Head Direct EF 1.   My problem, so far, with the T1's is their lower mids/mid bass sound too resonant/tubby. The Matrix mostly gets rid of this problem, but the mids aren't as clear, the...

Matrix M-Stage amp review: simple, cheap, and excellent.

Currently using this with my new T1 and liking it. Anyone else use this amp to drive T1's?

No offense intended of course, but that's my stance. These are also monitors that are much less costly than towers (just add a sub if you think you need it). And again I do like headphones (of course!) and they do have that intimacy that is hard to achieve with speakers, unless maybe near field...

Quote:   In my sig, currently using the Matrix. And psycho acoustic burn in yes, just like with every can/speaker.   Quote:   I have heard speakers costing over 100k and dozens from 5 to 75k and have speakers costing over 10k in my main. (Yes I'm a speaker guy mostly). My...

Well just got my T1 minutes ago. My first truly high end can (all others listed below).   And, well, right off, like after ten seconds of listening, I found them dark! Mind you I'm coming from the Shure 940's which have been my main can for a year or so, but the lower mids sound dark, even...

    Audeze LCD-2 TOO HEAVY

This could easily be a classic case of faulty causation...neck/back pain can be caused from so many variables it is hard if not impossible to attribute the cause to one thing (at least without a medical diagnosis and even then unless it is clearly something like a slipped disc or tumor it is...

Quote:   Totally agree and I feel confident my amps will at least be sufficient for the time being if not totally satisfactory. We'll see!   Quote:   I know, thanks!

Beyerdynamic T90 Discussion and Support Thread

I'm torn between these and the T1.   On one hand I don't want to just pay for marketing or the catering to those who feel what cost the most $$$ is the best and most prestigious simply because it costs more, on the other hand I do want the best and will pay the extra money if it really does...

The Official Beyerdynamic T1 Impressions and Discussion Thread

Quote:   Yea, I've heard that. Don't know what those go for new/used but it might be an option. However, looking around a bit it seems either of the two amps I have would do well with the T1's.   Quote:   I'm sure I could. I might not be getting the ultimate sound out of it...

The WA2 is all tube right? I'm not into that sound much personally. The EF1 hybrid is almost too-tubish for me, even with the analytic cans (940, 702) that could use some warmth. So when people say they prefer the T1 with some warmer amp like the WA2 I'm pretty sure I wouldn't personally (never...

Quote:   Thanks, never did really pay much attention to impedance/etc. I'm not a huge believer in amps either, amp/receiver and even DAP outs often do well imo. There are just different sound signatures to each.

Hey guys, a question if you don't mind:   I'm considering getting this phone, finally going from mid-tier cans (Shure 940, AKG 702, Grado 225i, Senn 595, BD 770) which I have used since I got into this hobby 7 years ago (I'm mostly a speaker guy but do love cans also) to upper tier and would...

LOL at all the Beats bashers........

The thing is that Monster hasn't done anything any other over marketed, hyped, and priced manufacturer has done (which is every single one of them in the audio world, every single one), it's just that the self appointed audiophile elite hate them because they are aimed at the unwashed masses...

Shure SRH-940 Crack and their service!

Thanks for the feedback/suggestions guys!   Seems I really need to check out the T70. I'm also going to contact Shure and see what they will do to fix my band break (haha).

Shure SRH-940 Crack and their service!

Quote:   Thanks, I will look into them.   But if the T70 is anything like my DT 770's that won't work because I find that to be all lows and sharp highs with sucked out mids. That turned me off to BD's.   And though I like my 702's, the 940's are much better imo. So I'm not...

Shure SRH-940 Crack and their service!

Quote:   Such as?   Really, I'm interested as my band literally cracked in half and so they are rendered useless (luckily I have several other cans to listen to and don't listen to cans that often anyway).   But I LOVE the 940's SS, literally the best I've heard for my tastes...

what ever happened to the ATH-M50 craze around here?

Always thought it was totally over hyped even when it was $100 ish. I ordered one and thought I had gotten the wrong can it was so bad (yes I really tried to like it, yes I "burned it in" or rather burned myself into it, but I did play it for 150 hours or so in any case, etc). I wouldn't pay $20...

    [Review] JDS Labs Objective2 Amp

I'm waiting for a full desktop amp too before I buy one. I've heard the portable, and it is great, but I can't stand the way it looks with my decor (and my other amps are fine as well SQ wise and great look wise!).
