I have given up and mostly use the screen to operate the player, hence the frequent use of the power button. The matte screen protector also makes it quite hard to see the screen under the sun......

The case is nice and very sturdy, but the buttons are simply too small.

Also hisses with the Solaris 2020 and the Andromeda AG operating out of the 4.4mm, but damn they sound nice with the Alpha. Sony M9 and Final Audio B1 and B3 have shown no noticeable hisses, but they require volume at something like 60 odd in low gain. I am pretty impressed that the Alpha drives...

The power button is annoying too, at least with the offical leather case. Anything longer than a light tap trigger shut down rather than turn off the screen, which makes it very hard to operate one handed on the go.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the Kann Alpha as a USB DAC for the PS5? I think the JDS Atom can, but I am not sure about other DACs yet. The hilarious thing is neither the Sony WM1A nor the TA-ZH1ES work with the PS5, something about left and right hand not talking to each other....

Sorry, my mistake. After some further research, apparently it can be used for connection to PC for data transfer as well. Still not sure whether it can connect to a DAC though. I guess you probably can, but might need a bunch of OTG cables or something like that.

Apparently that adapter is out of production. So it is pretty much seller's market, as it seem a lot of people think taking a spare Walkman cable is too much trouble. The good sign is the latest player (ZX500 series) gone to a standard USB C connection, so hopefully WM-PORT will be slowly faded...

I think the small WM-PORT connector is only for charging via a USB micro cable. I don't think that transfer data.

It came with the amplifier. Is this the nub you are referring to? I think you can still get the WM-PORT to USB cable from Japan, but it is quite bulky and come out to USB A not micro USB.

There are multiple versions of GS1000i, with some of the driver mounted flush against the housing and some not. I personally favour earlier versions with driver mounted flush against the housing, which is closer to the GS1000.
