Beats by dre Pro Indepth review
I decided to take the pros apart couple days ago and the kid that gave them to my brother told they were defiantly legit cause got them off offical beats website. I thought unmodded they sounded not bad all and liked them. But i wanted to tune the midbass tad bit and make the treble bit more...- RexAeterna

Beats by dre Pro Indepth review
I don't post here much anymore but I have to defend the pros here. I got a pair from my brother's friend and just gave them to me for free cause his dad bought him another pair. I made sure I went through the hassle finding if these were legit and to conclusion they were. First listen they had...- RexAeterna

Amp to drive vintage AKG K240DF 600ohm?
just find a good preamp. cheap good headphone amping is a kenwood C2 if you can find them. i found a C2 for 40 bucks cause i was looking for an extra preamp for my yamaha m-45 power amp and was very surprised on the headphone out. made my sextetts and DF's sound really nice. DF's naturally have...- RexAeterna

Is this AVR enough for HD600s?
just plug it in and see how it sounds to you. if you like the sound then that's all that matters. your amps should drive them fine. 300ohms nominal is not a very hard load at all.- RexAeterna

Which come closer to AKG K 240 DF?
i still consider DF a reference headphone. love mine. i would try orthos man if you like the DF. the t50rp if modded good can have wonderful midrange like the DF's. t50rp was probably my fav right next to the DF. that's of course if you don't mind modding(it's really easy. especially if you...- RexAeterna

Sony Fan Club!
i own only 1 sony headphone( SA5000 balanced and slightly modded). i really like the SA5000. probably has one of the best treble and air for a dynamic headphone in my opinion. great clarity too.- RexAeterna

Sennheiser HD800 Appreciation Thread
don't forget to add in the air response as well. bumped up air response from 14khz and up can add bit extra clarity besides the bass roll off. with extra air, it will help with bass dispersion too so, bass will sound cleaner and quicker.- RexAeterna

Best cans for every genre
it all depends i guess for the person. if your willing to live with the flaws and strengths of the headphone cause they all have them(same with speakers,ect.).all headphones i have as keepers work good all around for me since i am not too picky on most things and willing to live with their...- RexAeterna

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...
looking good there! like the set-up. also if you don't mind diy or not really caring for super cool looking aesthetics i would hit up local home dept and get some roxual mineral wool. 38 bucks for 50lb bag(12 slabs). not bad price at all. easy to cut and if you're not good with wood work or...- RexAeterna

My Theory on Balanced vs Single Ended for High/Low Impedance Headphones
interesting topic here. i always believed atleast the headphone to be balance itself to make the most differences really. i tend to think making a headphone balance dose offer bit better stereo separation and imaging ability personally. all balance is, is elimination of the common ground wire. i...- RexAeterna

Fractures on K240?
BrownBear, pick up the monitors instead. you thank yourself later. monitors are much better over the studios. they're 600ohms yes, but, pretty sensitive as well so getting volume out of them shouldn't be too hard for decent soundcard or interface. i think the monitors have more low-bass...- RexAeterna

Who still has the Sony SA5000?
i guess i'm only one still playing with these? ohh well. well the damping with stone wool and polyfill made them lot cleaner/smoother but sa5000 still had bit brightness going on which i was fine with, with low level listening. so i had pair of sennheiser hdr100 wireless headset i was given by a...- RexAeterna

Headphone lifespan
beyer dt48A made in the 60's still used today and perfectly working. drivers can last a lifetime if well taken care of and maintained. only thing going are cables and pads that degrade with years of use. only headphone i know that degrades with time is sonys' R10 and CDxxxx line cause of the bio...- RexAeterna

The AKG Infomation Thread
good question. i do not know how to exactly explain it but most people can't tell if they're getting harmonic distortion or not unless it's very high and odd case lot of things cause harmonics in sound and it's certain harmonics people like and don't. for the sine wave genrator. it's most likely...- RexAeterna

Who still has the Sony SA5000?
sorry for lateness. i finally got around experimenting with these and i have to say the sa5000 has some potential for improvement. they sounded pretty darn clean already but with little damping you can make them cleaner sounding i think. i tried my usual r-19 stone wool plus bit of polyfill to...- RexAeterna

The AKG Infomation Thread
thing is it's hard trusting sine weeps cause lot of times they can cause harmonic distortion. that's why it's pointless to use sine waves to test you're hearing ability as well(you saw that crap in that one thread where people believed they had super man hearing, ect). i just listen to music...- RexAeterna

The AKG Infomation Thread
well of course. it's headphones. not speakers we're talking about. most IEM's are considered ''natural'' sounding for the very reason on how they are curved in the response to represent a flat speaker system in a diffused field. take in mind though akg compensations when they measure their...- RexAeterna
