    New WESTONE W-SERIES

Had exactly the same thing happen with my W60 (major bummer - just had them for a month. The left earpiece popped off somewhere. I contacted Westone support asking if I could buy a single earpiece. Answer was no. The best they could do was sell me a new set at 50% off. However, I would have had...

Unique Melody double/triple hybrid universals announced: UM 2X & 3X Discussion thread.

Got mine this morning - opted to go without the UM logo (preferable, actually). I haven't had time to do a proper listen but initial impression was that it's quite bassy but not in an unpleasant way. Fit is decent without being as nice as a Westone/Fitear. But, the carry case is amazing. A...

getting a replacement, which one? w3 vs um3xrc vs w4r

Sorry, just noticed you ordered the w4r. They are still a great IEM and I've no doubt you'll enjoy them.

getting a replacement, which one? w3 vs um3xrc vs w4r

I've got all 3 and they are different. The 4r is probably the best all-rounder but the 3 has a distinct brassy warmth that the other 2 lack. It's more fun. Despite having all 3, I'd use the w3 more than the others, particularly for pop/rock/dance. Unless you're unhappy with the w3 sound and have...

Westone 4-R or Logitech UE 900? HELP!!

Of the two, I'd go for the W4R.  Both for sound and a more comfortable fit.  I'd probably throw in the suggestion of the W3 if you like a warmer sound.  I have all three and tend to spend more time with the Westones.  ANd, there's just something a little more fun about the W3.

Recommend IEM similar in size to UE700

The  Hisoundaudio Golden Crystal is tiny and sounds good.  If you don't mind something jutting out of your ear, I'd recommend you look at the Klipsch X10i.  I find it really comfortable and easy to get a good seal.

    Your #1 Favorite Album

Always come back to Donald Fagen's The Nightfly.  The instruments progressively dropping out at the end of "New Frontier" is a great test.

Rank the Headphones that You Own.

Good question.  My opinion changes depending on my mood but my current go-to list is:   1) Westone 4r 2) Heir 4A 3) Philips X1 4) Beyerdynamic T1 5) Ultrasone Signature Pro 6) Klipsch X10i 7) Fischer Audio SBA-03

    "Freshening" Grado RS1i

Quote: For anyone with a similar smoke smell problem, Aizura was absolutely correct.  Changing the pads got rid of the majority of the problem and I don't even notice it now.  And the RS1is were worth it.

Can someone tell me what headphones these are?

They're House of Marley TTR Destiny noise cancelling phones.  They're nicely made and well presented with a pleasant sound.  Bass heavy, as you'd expect but ... pleasant.

    Aurisonics ASG-1 worth it?

I was dubious about fit myself and, first few times I tried the fit was pretty poor.  I almost sold them immediately - and I'm used to IEM and CIEM fitting.  However, I found the review by Sonny (http://www.head-fi.org/products/aurisonics-asg-1-generic-fit-iem/reviews) to be very helpful in...

The Wizard Appreciation Thread - Long Live the Wizard - The former HA Appreciation Thread

I should be getting my 4.A soon (just got email with images to confirm build complete) so I'll let you know costs. Also, AmpCity/UM shouldn't result in tax charges since I assume they'll ship to you from London.

    "Freshening" Grado RS1i

Thanks, folks.  Great suggestions.  I'll try replacing the pads first.  Then, I'll see if the Orange Oil does any good.  It's just a shame to see such sweet 'phones not being used.

    "Freshening" Grado RS1i

Good people,   I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have for my little problem.  I bought an RS1i from eBay.  It looks great, sounds great but ... the owner was obviously a smoker.  The cans reek of cigarette smoke to the point where I find it really unpleasant to wear them.   I've...

The Wizard Appreciation Thread - Long Live the Wizard - The former HA Appreciation Thread

4.A seems to be the sweet spot.  Ordered a pair myself.  One question for someone with more experience of these things.  I, obviously, need to send the impressions to China.  What's the safest and fastest way to ship to China from UK?

Help with IEMs for sleep for someone with chronic pain

Agree on the Westones.  Had a similar situation earlier in the year (so I feel your pain) and the Westone 3s were by far the most comfortable with head on pillow.  Best of luck.

    The Klipsch x10i appreciation thread.

Agree that the X10i is a superb IEM.  Fortunately, I can get a great fit/isolation for the Westone range and I think that the W4 has the edge for me.  When you're dozing on a plane, you could stab yourself in the ear with the Klipsch.  However, if you want iPhone/iPod controls and mic, I think...

    IE8... Fit?

IE8 fit can be tricky.  You can wear them wire down but I find that the size/weight of the earpiece makes wire down a little awkward.  For me, over the ear is more comfortable and gives a more stable fit.     They do protrude from the ear - I can't imagine too many ears that have a diamond...

    Upgrade from IE7?

I'd second the IE8, if you like the Sennheiser house sound.  Fit's a bit more awkward but fine when you get used to it.

BEST In-Ear Monitors under $400 for running

Focusing on the running part of the question, my experience would suggest that the Ortofons won't be suitable - the fit won't be secure enough. The Westones, on the other hand, will give a good secure fit - they're a good option with minimal microphonics. The isolation is pretty good so, please...

What iem to get for isolaiton/comfort klipsch x10 shure se535 ety er4 or at ck100

I've used both the Shures and the Klipschs extensively and I feel that the Klipschs are the most comfortable by a large margin. Once you have gotten used to fitting it (you need to pull it out slightly to let the tip flare and give a better seal), you barely notice it's there. And, it sounds...

    Westone 3 Service Query

I bought a set of Westone 3s off eBay and there seems to be some attenuation/obstruction in the left channel.     With both tips inserted, it feels like the audio is off-centre and biased to the right channel.  Listening to each tip individually, the volume in the left sounds lower and...
