I dropped my 3GS a few time, and once stepped on it when I was drunk  some scratches on the back but none on the screen. I know it's not perfectly scratch resistant, but the glass is quite hard indeed.

Answer to some of your questions.    They take sennheiser cable only, although there's 1 or 2 custom cable for it at the moment   Yes you can wear it straight down, some people even say it's more comfortable. Just switch the cable, wear the left one on the right side :D

I'll say the Miles Davis, definitely a looker !

with £300 you can probably buy any top universal IEM, and these are not really comparable imo, it just depend on your preference. So describe your sound preference, so everyone can give you some recommendation

I'd say go with the HJE900, save yourself some trouble later, the HJE900 are really durable !
