    Recommendation for lightweight, open headphones.

I'm after some open headphones to I can keep some awareness of whats going on.  I work at home, and the inlaws due to bad health are staying with us for a while.  I need to keep them from hearing the music, yet need to hear some ambient noise to keep an "ear" on things..  I find that over the...

    Cutting off one bud.

I have a pair of UE MetroFI 170v that aren't that good for much of everything.  I was wondering if they'd still work if I cut one of the buds off completely - just snipped the wire.  I'd leave the side with the mic on of course, and then they would serve a purpose for me.   Thanks.

    SuperFi 4 or D-Jays

Going on a trip in a few days so I pulled out my SuperFi 4's to mow the lawn with yesterday and the left kept cutting out.  Took them back and over the shelf they gave me a new box which is now sitting here un-openned.   I did see some D-Jays, and am wondering how they might compare?  From the...

Etymotic isolation vs SuperFi 4 with Comply tips

Just curious if Etymotic IEMs will have better isolation than my current superfi 4s with the comply tips.  Currently after the best isolation I can get for a bunch of upcoming travel.   I really appreciate the isolation I already get with the superfi's - sure beats noise cancelling sets. ...

In ear headphones with decent mic...

I'm looking for decent in-ear headphones with a decent mic for cell phone and computer usage.  As for decent, I currently have some UE SuperFi .4 that are good enough for me.  I'd also be willing to sacrifice a bit an audio quality for a better mic.  As its easy to carry around 2 sets of in-ear...

IEMs (or buds) primarily for noise cancellation.

I'm leaving in a few days for a fair amount of flying and am wanting to try some noise isolating head phones instead of cancelling - I have Senn. PXC 150s and they are nothing special. I'm not too concerned about sound quality as I will normally listen to the movies on the airplane and pod...
