Audio-Technica's New Multidriver IEMs: The ATH-IM Series

So I finally got my pair of IM50's today, bought from Yodobashi Camera by a friend. They've got only about 10 minutes of play time on them, but here are my thoughts so far:   1. Holy crap that's a lot of bass for an IEM. I thought the CKN70s were fairly bassy phones, but these are nuts. I...

Audio-Technica's New Multidriver IEMs: The ATH-IM Series

A friend of mine is going to Tokyo this week and will pick me up a pair of IM50s. I'd be interested in a pair of IM03's but for that kinda money I'd rather read reviews first.

New Shure SE215 - First Impressions

Jung Woo Cho, I completely agree with you about the SE425's sound signature...even after letting them burn in for 100 hours, I was convinced mine were broken or something and sent them back under warranty. The new ones weren't any better, sadly.   I'm definitely interested in A-T's new IM...

New Shure SE215 - First Impressions

Can anyone compare these to the SE425s, or to ATH-CKN70s? I've always been meh about my 425s and have really fallen in love with Audio-Technica's IEMs, but the one thing A-T doesn't have is a low-profile IEM with over-the-ear cables. I love the fit of the 425s but they just aren't very exciting...

Audio-Technica's New Multidriver IEMs: The ATH-IM Series

If the IM03s get favorable reviews (and retain the A-T house sound), then that will be all the motivation I need to sell my SE425s. I only wish that A-T was offering these with clear housings and cables.

Audio-Technica's New Multidriver IEMs: The ATH-IM Series

Aww dang, this is exactly what I was hoping A-T would come out with...my wallet is already cowering (though the list prices actually seem quite reasonable).

Pictures of your computer rigs! Post them here!

Nice to see another owner of Control 1 Pluses on here, I have a pair in white. Great little speakers and I love the fact they went the extra mile and used rubber woofer surrounds, so no worries about foam rot.

SE530/535 Acoustic Filter Mod: More SQ improvement than cables? Dampers!

Quote:   I just pulled my SE425's out and found something interesting -- there appear to be no filters in there at all. At the very bottom of the tube is something that looks like it could be a filter, but if you hold a clear 425 up to the light and look down the tube, you can see right...

SE530/535 Acoustic Filter Mod: More SQ improvement than cables? Dampers!

Hmmm, I may give this a shot with my SE425s. Ever since discovering Audio-Technica IEMs they've just been sitting in a drawer, as I don't find them terribly exciting (at least in stock form).

    Calling All "Vintage" Speaker Owners

The Control 10s aren't what I'd consider suited for a small space, they have pretty large cabinets. Honestly the only times I've seen them used is for PA or commercial background music installations. If you want something from the classic JBL Control line, look for a set of Control 1s or 5s. I...

Audio-Technica's Take on the Microdriver: ATH-CKN50 and CKN70

Quote:   Honestly, I like the CKN70 just a bit better. It's just more engaging, more fun. It has the same amount of bass as the CKM500's but it's a bit tighter, the highs are a little more transparent, and the mids are more forward. I also like the smaller housings (the CKM500's are...

Audio-Technica's Take on the Microdriver: ATH-CKN50 and CKN70

I thought about the blue ones, but didn't like that the cables were also blue.   And sorry, I haven't heard the GR07's...I can only compare them against CKN50's, CKM500's, SE210's and SE425's. Head-Fi hasn't completely gotten to my wallet yet.

Audio-Technica's Take on the Microdriver: ATH-CKN50 and CKN70

Just got my CKN70's today, and I'm very impressed with them so far. Low end is much more present than the CKN50's, though it's a little fat -- hopefully this will straighten out with time (though if it doesn't, it's not a deal-breaker). Mids are reasonably forward, and the highs are typical A-T...

The ATH-CKM500..The best CKM earphone yet.

Yeah, both my CKM500's and new CKN50's were purchased from a reputable dealer in Japan, and were labeled as made in China. My AD700's were made in China too, and I bought those from Amazon.

The ATH-CKM500..The best CKM earphone yet.

Quote:   Seems to work a bit for BA's too; I've always struggled with the sound from my SE425's -- I was convinced my first pair was defective, so I got a replacement from Shure. Those sounded marginally better, and out of desperation I set them up to burn in at high volume for about a...

The ATH-CKM500..The best CKM earphone yet.

You know, I'm not normally much of a believer in burning in earphones, but I did notice a change in the sound of my CKM's the more I listened to them. The high end does get more relaxed as they break in and lose their harshness and sibilance. Instead of constant noise, I'd put an iPod set on...

Audio-Technica's Take on the Microdriver: ATH-CKN50 and CKN70

Quote:   I haven't heard the CKM99 or 1000, but the CKN50's sound pretty similar to the CKM500's. Very similar high end (crisp but not harsh), slightly fuller mids, and deeper, tighter bass (but less of it).

The ATH-CKM500..The best CKM earphone yet.

Quote:   That's why I'm not getting rid of my CKM500's...the CKN's sound great, but so do the 500's, and there's no reason why I can't keep both. Honestly, what I'm most amazed by is just how awesome both of these in-ears sound considering their price. I didn't pay any more than $70 for...

Thoughts on Limited Edition Shure SE215?

A couple questions, for those who might know:   1. My SE210's recently died (one of the drivers stopped working suddenly, not sure why). They're out of warranty and for $78 Shure will ship me a set of SE215's to replace them. Think I have a chance of getting them to send me the SE215 Limited...

    The discovery thread!

Like Dsnuts, I got my CKN50's today. Really like them so far; they're very similar to the CKM500's but Dsnuts' earlier notes about them are accurate. I'm not too thrilled with the cable, but it could be worse. I'm also glad AT used the same nozzles as the CKM500's so I can use my Complys for...

The ATH-CKM500..The best CKM earphone yet.

I just got my pair of ATH-CKN50's to compare to the CKM500's. I've had my CKM500's for several months now so they're fully broken-in, but the sound between the two is very similar. The only major thing I can discern at this point, until the CKN50's have some hours on them, is that they have...

Audio-Technica's Take on the Microdriver: ATH-CKN50 and CKN70

I've got a set of CKN50's on the way; as is my luck, I only found out about the CKN70's after placing my order for the 50's. Oh well, once the 70's are available for decent prices I'll pick up a set of those too. I love my CKM500's; I'm hoping that the 50's/70's offer a bit more detail and...
