[link] 24/192 Music Downloads ...and why they make no sense
If you have 24-bit audio content (eg. a film soundtrack), is it better to output in 24-bit or 16-bit, or would there be no difference? http://i.imgur.com/uA2yz.png- brod

Difference between Anologue and digital sound?
How about for virtualized headphone surround? My sound card takes a 5.1 or 7.1 mix from games/movies and converts it to two channels with HRTF based positional cues... would it be better to use 24/96 or 24/192 instead of 24/48? http://www.creative.com/oem/technology/thx.asp- brod

Difference between Anologue and digital sound?

Balanced Drive sounds better? How?!
I haven't expressed an opinion on the merits and value of balanced sources/headphones, because I am not an expert on the matter. Just pointing out what should be obvious - that any claims of improved sound quality from a website that sells said equipment should be treated with suspicion.- brod

Are CDs still a worthy investment?
This forum's quoting system is a pain in the butt, so I'm just going to type some stuff. 1. Downloading digital copies of media is not stealing, and it's also not illegal in many countries. 2. FLAC files = CD quality 3. It's true that when you buy a CD you are paying for the...- brod

Balanced Drive sounds better? How?!
Quote: Something tells me that a website that sells $1700 balanced headphone amps isn't going to be a great source of factual, unbiased information on the subject.- brod

Confused about 3.5mm jacks and volume
If you want to get the most out of laptop onboard sound (or any other less-than-ideal source) what you need are high sensitivity headphones that have high impedance. When the output impedance of the source isn't known, high impedance cans are always a good idea, because higher impedance = larger...- brod

Are CDs still a worthy investment?
Quote: I think it's a very strange question. From my perspective, no physical media purchase is 'a worthy investment' as it isn't an investment at all. You are paying money for something that is available for free online. As for the issue of copyright and money, I think it's worth...- brod

Planar Magnetic
Most planar magnetic headphones are low impedance so it's important to use a source that has a low output impedance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damping_factor- brod

beyer t70 & t70p NEW!
With great difficulty! It helps if you have someone else who can hold the headphones steady so you have both hands free to put the pads on. The trick is to use one hand to keep pressure on the edges that you have already placed, while using the other hand to pull the rest of the plastic...- brod

All models of Beyerdynamic headphones with this design benefit from the Beyer gel pads, both sonically and in terms of comfort. I think it would be difficult for me to switch to any headphone that doesn't have gel pads available.- brod

Good thing there's the DT770 for bassheads. Discontinued but still available at various stores. The Beyer gel pads make it even bassier.- brod

MP3 vs FLAC, revisited
I can't tell the difference between 320kbps and FLAC, but that doesn't mean there is no difference, and given that I store my music on a 1TB HDD I have no problem with using the FLAC format.- brod

Difference between 32 / 250/ 600 ohms
I don't see how Beyerdynamic would benefit by misleading people on this topic. Given that their info matches the subjective experiences posted here it does appear to be accurate. I think what catches many people out is the fact that higher impedance headphones require more power to sound...- brod
