MS1i For Movies/TV Shows
Well if the choice is between iPod headphones and pretty much anything over $20, the latter will be the better option, so I'd say just go for the MS-1 at your computer.- hardRAWKR

interested in good sounding music
I think in that budget range it would better to put all of your money into a good, easy-to-drive phone and just get the Fiio E-5 to start. Grados are great for rock but probably not as much for rap. Overall, though, I think grados would be a great option.- hardRAWKR

A Rhetorical Thread: Rank the best headphone companies
Well I'm going to ignore anything I have no chance of being able to afford, so that eliminates Stax. Well if I had to rank just based on the two headphones I have... 1. Grado (MS-1i): Great signature sound. 2. Audio-Technica (AD-700): Awesome soundstage and actually very balanced when given...- hardRAWKR

My headphone encounters...
I've had some interesting encounters in the last few weeks. Most notably one of my teachers noticed when I brought my MS-1(i)s to school, which kicked off a whole sequence of events. To give some background, here are excerpts from a few posts I've made in the headphone sightings thread recently...- hardRAWKR

Typing from my iPod Touch. Just saw a pair of MDR 150s and as I typed this kid pulled out some UR 40s. My first open headphone sighting! Today is off to a good start!- hardRAWKR

Clueless... UPDATE: The Fiio E-5 has arrived!
Well the clip on mine just broke off a few days ago. It probably wouldn't be too tough to fix, but I'm not going to bother. I just strapped it onto my iPod case with a rubber band. It actually is a pretty good fix. I plan to get the Corda 3Move for my next upgrade, but that probably won't be...- hardRAWKR

Lets Talk Metal
I don't really like In Flames, although I guess I have their presence on Guitar Hero to thank for helping me transition from Slipknot to real death metal. -
Help please?
SR-60i on Grado's Website That outlines the differences. Apparently they improved the drivers and changed from the flat back design to the bulkier extruded back. Original SR-60 SR-60i If you look at the backs the 60i is a bit bulkier.- hardRAWKR

Headphones like the AD700s, but with more bass?
The MS-1's are a very good phone but if you're looking for the AD-700+bass, that's the wrong phone. The MS-1's have no soundstage at all and are much more forward than the AD-700's. They do have a lot of detail though. There is the closed equivalent, the A-700's. I haven't heard them personally...- hardRAWKR

Grado
I don't know about the 225's, but generally if you want bass quantity Grado headphones aren't for you. I think that using an amp would help, though, so that may be something to consider.- hardRAWKR

Clueless... UPDATE: The Fiio E-5 has arrived!
Oh trust me this is only a temporary fix. In fact I already have my eyes on an expensive amp. But this will be plenty until I'm able to finish upgrading my library to flac and get the Cowon S9. Probably won't have more impressions until tommorow or late tonight, as I plan to watch the...- hardRAWKR

Clueless... UPDATE: The Fiio E-5 has arrived!
Well I've been listening since my last post. So far I've used it with my MS-1's, and I've listened to Immolation's EP "Hope and Horror" and most of Burst's "Lazarus Bird". I listened to the first track of "Hope and Horror" without the E-5 just to get a baseline and make a comparison. When the...- hardRAWKR

Is it just me or is pop music really whiny
If you want whiny, just listen to any alternative, Radiohead included. Don't get me wrong...I respect Radiohead, but Thom Yorke is the whiniest singer I've ever heard. -
Clueless... UPDATE: The Fiio E-5 has arrived!
The E-5 is here! I saw that it had arrived earlier today on Amazon's package tracking, and I've been waiting to get into it all day! Initial impressions, before listening... Well if anything the E-5 has impressive packaging. It comes with a standard USB cable for charging, and a long and...- hardRAWKR

Rant: Loud Bars
Well I don't know about bars, but I rarely go to a concert where the volume is tolerable. I always bring earplugs. I personally think that there should be better laws about audio levels, because at some point it's disruptive and is dangerous to your hearing.- hardRAWKR
