I'm not quite sure that the problem here is in Beyerdynamic QC, but rather in the user. These headphones are really difficult to position exactly right on your head. I find it's like solving a Rubiks cube every time I put DT-1350 on my head. Even the smallest changes in the positioning change...

Don't know if you have noticed but Audio GD is selling DAC19-DSP again. If you want a great  dac in the price range I suggest you act fast.

Grado SR325is is great for jazz and runs well off portable players. Might not be the best for portable use because the cable is quite thick. I however use MS-1i with the thicker Grado cable daily on the go and have no problems with it.

You need an R2R-DAC. Used Audio GD DAC-19DSP could do the trick.

K70X has really good bass. It is deep and extended. I own K-701 and SR325i and just recently sold Denon AH-D2000 and between those the bass of 701 is by far the best. It's not quite as prat as Grado's or as deep as Denon's, but the combination is excellent.

Most likely there is only hair inside the air chamber causing the rattle. Try blowing air in it or vacuuming it gently. The hair could also be stuck on the comfypad.
