The All-New WA7 Fireflies from Woo Audio
Been fighting with the same issue on my first gen WA7 for a couple of years. Tried a bunch of different cables, both the CMedia and Xmos drivers, several different PC's, tablets and Mac computers - no combination of these made any difference. Ended up throwing a standalone DAC into the chain...- Igor01

Hifiman HE1000 Planar Dynamic Headphone
I am liking the HE1000 but I think my Woo Audio WA7 amp/DAC with WA7tp is a bit inadequate for these cans, it drives HD800 and LCD-XC with ease but doesn't feel quite as effortlessly in charge with HE1000. A bit if a silly oversimplified question, I know, but how much would I benefit from...- Igor01

Audeze LCD-4
What amp did you end up getting for your HEK? I enjoy mine out of WA7/tp but it feels a bit underpowered for HEK.- Igor01

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
Thanks for the suggestions, guys. Unfortunately, there's no easy (and economical) way of getting Emotiva speakers in Canada, so I guess it's down to A3x vs A5x for me. I am leaning towards A3x because I could get a used pair cheaper than the A5x from a store and because the smaller footprint...- Igor01

2.0 Speakers Compilation: Best for <$500
Is there a significant benefit in choosing Adam A5x over A3x (or going with A7x) when used with a good sub (SVS SB2000) for use as multimedia speakers with a computer? The speakers would be fed by a Woo Audio WA7tp tube amp using its built-in DAC. I like the way the amp extends the sound...- Igor01

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
The EH tubes made the sound a lot more dynamic and lively for me. The WA7tp power supply improved it even more. The difference is quite dramatic and well worth the additional investment in my opinion.- Igor01

Woo Audio WA7TP (tube power supply) Impressions Thread
After having tried the Sylvania Jans in my WA7tp and not being too happy with the result (veiled highs and bloated loose base compared to the stock tubes) I took them out and ran with the stock tubes for a while. But then got curious and decided to try the Sylvania tubes again but first clean...- Igor01

Woo Audio WA7TP (tube power supply) Impressions Thread
Trying the Sylvania JAN5814A tubes in my power supply and contrary to what I was expecting the stock tubes sound better to me - the Sylvanias tend to exaggerate bass and bring treble too forward. I prefer the tighter controlled and more defined bass with the stock tubes. The high frequency...- Igor01

WOO-HOOOO... WA7 "fireflies"!!!
I also loved the difference a tube power supply made, everything is seemingly more dynamic, decay is faster and overall the playback is more effortless and alive. Before I hooked up the tube power supply I remember reading in one of the reviews that WA7 sounded like a "warmed up death" with the...- Igor01

Woo Audio WA7TP (tube power supply) Impressions Thread
Jeb, thanks so much for your thoughts and the info! I feel somewhat reassured now that the JAN's I've purchased shouldn't be a waste. I too thought of the fact that since these are to be used in a rectifier and not in the amp's signal path the rationale of them not being on par with the Gold...- Igor01

Woo Audio WA7TP (tube power supply) Impressions Thread
A quick question to tube gurus... I was looking for upgrading the tubes in my WA7tp unit and came across two options: Ebay link and CanuckAudioMart link The ebay one is quite a bit cheaper so I ordered a pair, but it appears that I missed the fact that the more expensive pair sold on...- Igor01

Anyone have a quick fix for speaker buzz?
The SimplySpeakers.com repair kits work great, I've fixed my ancient ProMedia 4.1 sub with these. Just a word of advice - it may sound like it's only one side that's making the offending noise but chances are both the woofers will need the replacement foam rings (they are the same age/wear...- Igor01

Subwoofer to go with my set up
Check out the SVS sealed powered subs like SB1000 or SB2000, they should be a lot better for music than the ported models you listed. They are much more compact than the ported ones you looked at and the bass will be tighter, faster and won't get flabby/muddy even with very bassy tracks. ...- Igor01

Audio Shops in Toronto?
I had a great time at HeadphoneShop in Toronto yesterday, their selection is great - there were headphones (including all the flagships) from HiFiMan, Audeze, Sennheiser, Fostex, Ultrasone, Stax and tons of other models as well as some DACs, amps, HD players and all kinds of related products. ...- Igor01

iAudio X5L or Iriver H120?
I've owned an H140 for a few years now and tried out the X5 for a month. Eventually returned the X5 for three reasons: 1. I found the sound just too bright for my liking (used my ER4P with both players), the latest Rockbox EQ apparently allows negative adjustment but I've only tried the X5...- Igor01

Ordered my X5!
Congrats! I have an X5 and it sounds just as good with Ety ER4P as does my trusty old iHP140. Here's a thread on iaudiophile.net forum regarding screen protectors for the X5: http://www.iaudiophile.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6102 I personally don't think it needs a full case, even a...- Igor01

MegaBass DAP?
Being a basshead myself, I've gone through lots of different DAP's and found the iRiver (iHP and Hxx series) to have the best bass boost. While having good 'phones is undoubtedly important to my ears the iRiver players just give a much more satisfying bass than iPods, anything from Archos...- Igor01

Best SOUNDING DAP!!
Agree with previous posters. If you like deep resounding bass, iRiver is the way to go. If you like neutral sound, try out the ipod. When I was researching this issue for myself I've quickly learned that you simply cannot rely on other people's ears and opinions on the subject of sound...- Igor01

Etys vs Shures... you decide for me
I've used Ety's for a couple of years and then when the E3c reviews started pouring in I joined the holy quest for the flavour of the month and got a pair of Shures. Even though I tried my best to like the E3c and convince myself that they sound good, I simply could not fool myself and returned...- Igor01
