California Audio Labs Sigma II DAC Distortion
After finding zero schematics, I have just got done testing everything with a scope, and tracing out how the 12ax7 is in the circuit. The Sigma II is NOT using the 12ax7 like we all may think, it's using it only as a buffer, as the RCA jacks are wired up to the cathodes, therefore it's a...- mmd8x28

California Audio Labs Sigma II DAC Distortion
Hello, been an extremely long time since I last signed on here. But I have done some changes to my audio setup now, and would like an opinion on where to first diagnose one of the problems I'm facing with my Sigma II DAC. This is the original model, not the 24/96 upgraded model. As far as...- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
No wonder they aren't replying.. Apparently they are out of business. Apparently quite a few people are trying to contact them with no luck, not even an answer of their phone. Looks like it's no use. I'll have no use but to super glue it back together, or better yet, just get a better...- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
I'm resorting to this this, because Maximo fell through and has not replied to my request for replacement, despite my nice written letter (I was kind in the email, as can be despite being upset). Maximo won't have my business again.- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
I can in fact actually safely say I do take extreme care with my audio and video equipment, no matter how cheap. Only once did they ever fall on the floor from 4 feet. And that was a year ago. If the glue keeps failing, there are designs to counter this. They could make the metal be sort of...- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
So you feel that earphones shouldn't be built to last? Hardly like tires. I mean come on, I have headphones from the 60's that still work great, and never needed their warranty to be invoked (and yes I do actually have some old Pioneer headphones with a lifetime warranty). But being that...- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
Necroposting! Sorry to do this, but........the replacements, SAME failure. Ugh, I'm going to have to do this again aren't I. I'm starting to feel this product is flawed.- mmd8x28

32KHz Audio
I was just told that using 32KHz on my DAC on my computer is better than using 44KHz. The only DAC I have that can even handle this is a Burr Brown PCM2702, but this doesn't make any sense to me, seems more like a downgrade. Can anyone elaborate on this for me?- mmd8x28

Loosing Bass
I noticed recently that I am loosing bass on my Hifiman EF2, and thought the amp was going sour. But I tried a different set of vacuum tubes, and the bass is back, but have a "whobbly" sound when bass is played, like it's being lazy. The tubes that ARE able to play bass are Philco's from...- mmd8x28

This wait is going to suck.. I thought about using iPod headphones, but then when using them, realized just how bassless they really are.- mmd8x28

I honestly don't have any money right now to spend. The player I use, a GP2X Caanoo has built in speakers, but that's about it.- mmd8x28

They told me I can get the warranty with them. I sent the RMA form, and now a lot of time has passed with no response. Sending another email. I hope they follow through.- mmd8x28

No, it actually looks like the im490, but with black tips like the im490s... (it came with a bag, 3 different tips, and an extension cord, but not the bag i see on their site, looks entirely different.- mmd8x28

Maximo fell apart
My Maximo iems fell apart on me this night. I was pulling out one of the sides out, and half of it came out, with the driver and foam tips still in the ear. Uh, ok. So what iem is NOT made that cheap? Without killing my wallet.- mmd8x28

Hifiman EF2 Not Loud with new Headphones
As I said, other headphones are fine.. So I'm not wasting my time fiddling with tubes.. ALL software have everything up as high as it goes.. ALL other headphones are loud.. It was only these.- mmd8x28

Hifiman EF2 Not Loud with new Headphones
No anger.. Kinda hard to explain how loud I enjoy them, but if I had to try, I enjoy them at concert levels.. I can get close enough, but the volume is already at max.. On movies, forget it, not even close to being loud enough.. (I hate it when movies are so quiet then get loud). Quote:- mmd8x28

Hifiman EF2 Not Loud with new Headphones
The head-direct site states the EF2 can drive 32-300 ohms... Still, hybrid or not, cost wise it should still be able to drive it.. (Considering the parts in the EF2 definitely don't equal $200, FAR less, single digits).- mmd8x28

Hifiman EF2 Not Loud with new Headphones
Quote: USB, or Line In, whichever source I use... Like I originally said, my IEM's are nice and very loud.. It's only these Koss that are tough to drive on this amp.. My Onkyo receiver has no problem driving them however.- mmd8x28

I hate you car thief
The original head unit in my car was stolen while at a college parking lot.. Crazier than that though, no window smashed or anything! They just, got in and got out.. The doors WERE locked, and my car doesn't have keyless remote entry.. So how the hell they got in is beyond me.. Oh...- mmd8x28

Hifiman EF2 Not Loud with new Headphones
I just got myself some new headphones, Koss Pro4AAT, and they are 250 ohm, 10Hz-25KHz, but I have to crank the EF2 up to the max to get it loud enough to be enjoyable. Usually with my IEM's all it needs is a 12 o' clock position... Anyway to get more "juice" out of this amp? My Onkyo amp...- mmd8x28

Koss Pro4 AAT
I just got these the other day while I was out looking for some new headphones (I grew tired of IEMs). I knew when I bought these they would be mostly a flat EQ rather than character, but that was ok, I'm doing video production too now and I need something good when video editing, but...- mmd8x28
