Back up speakers on extreme budget

So basically I'm looking for small, inexpensive speakers to use for when I don't want to use my DT 770's for whatever reason. My budget is around $30, and I know I won't get much quality for this but that's all I'm looking for. Will be used for a mix of movies, music, and games. Anyone have any...

    Beyerdynamic DT-770 (Pro/80) vs. DT-770 (Pro/250) vs. DT-990 (Pro/250)

Title says it all. Up until a few weeks ago I owned the DT-770 (Pro/80) model and loved it. Both of the drivers ended up rattling (from what I've read probably due to hair getting in the drivers) so since I had them covered by squartrade I sent them back for a full refund instead of trying to...

Beyerdynamic dt 770's 80 ohm or 250 ohm?

Hey so I'll be using these strictly on my computer which is hooked up to a xonar essence STX and no other amps/dac's. Which dt 770 would sound better, the 80 ohm or 250 ohm version? I'm a bit concerned about the ability of the essence STX to drive the 250 ohm version, but the built in amp says...

what exactly is the point of a sound card for headphone only listeners?

Just wondering, can't you buy a usb DAC to amp that would be higher quality for around the same price as you could say a xonar essence stx? This is aside from gamers who want the EAX support of creative cards.

Best headphones paired with a Xonar Essence STX in the $200 range

Title says it all. I currently own beyerdynamic dt 770's which I love the sound of, however the major con is that with its weight and the type of pad it uses, it begins to hurt the top of my head after an hour or two of use, making me constantly readjust where the band rests on the top of my...

Beyerdynamic warranty, am I out of luck?

So about 10 months ago I bought a pair of beyerdynamic dt 770's off of an ebay reseller who regularly sold dozens/hundreds of them. Lately however I've noticed some distortion on the left cup whenever there's heavy bass, making it sound like an overstressed cheap sub with some crackling. So now...

    Beyer DT 770's uncomfortable?

So everything I read prior to buying my beyer dt 770's was "oh they're the most comfortable headphone evar" or "man it's like wearing super padded ear muffs, they're awesome!" but after having used them for about 3 months now I have to say I'm disappointed Don't get me wrong, they sound...

    essence st/x driver question

So been using the STX for awhile now and my one quick question is does leaving on the gaming DS3D dsp effect have any affect on the rest of my computers sound, i.e. can I leave it on 24/7 and not have it disrupt my music at all, and it only applies to games, or should I turn it off every time...

    Xonar essence STX amp question

So, I recently picked up a xonar stx and beyerdynamic dt 770's 80 ohm to go with it, upgraded from onboard audio and hd 280's, sounds awesome. What I'm wondering about is the built in amp from the essence STX. What's the quality like? It has 3 settings, +0dB for 0-64 ohms, +12dB for 64-300 ohms...

Trying to figure out what a "crossfade" effect is called

Hey, I remember reading on here but completely forgot the name of the crossfade type effect that you can enable in your music player that plays like 5-10% of the left channel in the right and vice versa to better simulate stereo sound on headphones. Only problem is I can't remember the name, so...

$200 price range, internal soundcard or DAC?

So I was all ready to pull the trigger on an asus xonar essence stx for $180 from B&H, decided to read up on it here and saw some posts talking about how great DAC's are. After some research most seem to be more expensive than my budget, but there are some available in the price range. My...

beyer dt 770 pro's vs. denon ah d2000's

So I was pretty deadset on getting dt 770's off of an ebay reseller for around $170, but Amazon has the d2000's on sale for $220 right now, marked down from $350, which is incredibly tempting. Here's the situation: I won't have an amp for either one, and if I get the dt 770's I can use the extra...

Would a xonar essence stx be able to power a dt 770 250 ohm?

Think I'm going to end up with the xonar essence stx since they go on sale on newegg for $115 for an open box. From what I've read, this card has a built in amp, so would that be enough to power the 250 ohm version of the dt 770's without any other equipment, or should I stick with the 80 ohm?

Upgrading my headphones, $250 USD price point with some questions about the DT 770 and HD 595's

So, I'm currently using some Sennheiser hd 280 pro's, I've had them for a good 2 or 3 years and now I'm ready to upgrade. I've also been using onboard realtek HD audio for this time as well. Now here's where a lot of confusing information comes in. I've been recommended the DT 770's up and...
