Xonar Unified Drivers - Why/How do they sound better?
Interesting comments. I just couldn't see the logic in how the drivers could improve the sound. After a few days of listening, I can now safely the say the sound quality is just the same.- rory88uk

Xonar Unified Drivers - Why/How do they sound better?
I recently installed these third party drivers for my Xonar D1 just to try them out and I wasn't expecting it, but I'm pretty sure they sound better than the official Asus drivers. I'm pretty curious though. How is it possible for these drivers to sound better? Cheers!- rory88uk

Does using Traktor as a sound card make a good set up?
I was very surprised when switching between my Asus Xonar D1 and Traktor S4 controller. The Traktor S4 DAC just sounded like a muddled mess when I compared it to my Xonar! Overall I'm very disappointed by the S4 DAC - this is a unit that should be capable of driving some of the biggest sound...- rory88uk

aego m heat issue
Mine gets warm at the back. Not hot though. I have the same problem with my volume control. Instead I have the volume rocker half way and control it with my PC instead. (Half way is more than enough volume, and I cannot notice any inbalance at this volume) The problem is my ****ty Asus...- rory88uk

Audioengine A2 vs Creative Gigaworks T40 Series 2 ?
I can't speak for the T40's but I tried the Audioengine A2 and I found the bass neither tight or defined. The quantity of bass isn't the problem with these speakers - There is plenty but the quality is poor. Considering the size of the speakers the sound is still very good though (It's...- rory88uk

Strange wording in What Hi-Fi review for a Philips BDP-3100 Blu-ray player
Quote: Wow. Just Wow. I am starting to think the magazine is just one big inside joke. What Hifi says: " "Reveals new verve and insight, plus more body, depth and punch" It's a shelf. What!! This kind of thing (and expensive HDMI cables) are just like one big elaborate...- rory88uk

Strange wording in What Hi-Fi review for a Philips BDP-3100 Blu-ray player
I knew they had a poor reputation for reviews but I am amazed at how misleading this is. Who writes this stuff! - "Sound barrier", "the dynamic reach" and "not quite packing the power and scale"- rory88uk

Strange wording in What Hi-Fi review for a Philips BDP-3100 Blu-ray player
Just read a review here for this blu-ray player and regarding the audio it says: "Held back by the sound barrier Sonically it lacks the dynamic reach of the very best around, with U2's 360° at the Rose Bowl Blu-ray, not quite packing the power and scale of rival machines. Stereo music...- rory88uk

Audioengine 2, not what I expected.
I got the chance to hear a set of Audioengine A2's myself and was left disappointed especially considering all the praise they get on here. They are very loud for their size but I found them too bassy and I found that the bass is a bit muddy as well. I much prefer my Aego M which is a 2.1...- rory88uk

Aego M or Yamaha HS50M (Hi-fi speakers or monitors)
Yes It's a strange question and maybe not the right forum either but worth a try! Basically I need a set of speakers for my DJ setup. I use Traktor Pro 2 hooked up to a Traktor S4. Ideally I want an accurate sound so this is why I am considering a decent set of monitors. From...- rory88uk

Confused! Sennheiser HD280 or HD238
managed to snag a set of HD238 for cheap will give them both a go now... Biggest problem with the HD238 though is the cable length... 1 metre I won't be getting a headphone amp anytime soon, it seems a bit much really? My other alternative btw was a set of Sennheiser HD-25...- rory88uk
