I like big soundstages, but too wide a soundstage takes away the intimacy of the music. So i'm looking for something bigger than the predator yet not too wide. Because the predator seems to have a very in your face presentation of the music and bass which is sometimes not the best for laid back...

that is in the case of full-size earphones though, not sure how much larger it can push the jh-16s's soundstage

Well, it really depends, there are tons of ways your earphones can be exposed to abnormally loud blasts of music/sounds. 1. Plugging your low impedence earphones into a source perhaps a computer , we know sound cards are able to drive full size speakers, hence what may seem to be low volume...

Seems like a great pair of customs! On a side note, that case is awesome, both practical and stylish, where could I get one like that? Edit: I checked their site and it seems they are selling it for 20 bucks, gonna get one then lol.  

Alright so i guess from the responses here we somewhat have a conclusion. Verdict on customs - Very Durable, No need for extra care? oh and i myself use a pelican case :D
