V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

I got them as I found the originals too cramped for my ears. The XL cushions are not memory foam though, they slowly compress over time and are not great value. My ears now press against the speaker grill after a couple of months.

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

I use them wired for gaming, they are quite nice with decent soundstage. I prefer my open back HifiMan HE400 though for gaming. Wireless gaming, not sure sorry.

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

I find this as well, something about the mids. I have found this with some other headphones and it has resolved after a long burn in, like 300 hours. I still enjoy them quite a lot though, just a different experience from monitor headphones like Sen HD25 II. Honestly these sound better...

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

I have the rose gold CFW 2. I think even with APTX the very old version of Bluetooth lets them down. I found it very strange they sounded so bad cabled but changing to a different cable fixed that. Must have gotten a bad one from vmoda. Speaking of cables, the CFW2 has a very small recessed...

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

Archagon, initially I did hear a significant hiss on wireless. I then tried wired and was shocked to find the hiss still there and the sound was terrible. I changed cables and it went away. Then after 40 hours of burn in the wireless hiss stopped as well. Not sure if that will help you but good...

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

Well stink, just got my CFW 2 burnt in. Sounding pretty good wireless but much better wired. Definitely a fun set of headphones. I found the middles a little muddled coming from Sen HD25 II but I am enjoying the V-Moda's and it is great to have the wireless as backup. Do we know yet if there...

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

I bought the Rose Gold ones from Amazon. All models are $249 on Amazon, hope I don't hate the colour too much. Might buy a set of the black screws to tone them down a little. I will mostly be using my phone, an LG V20. It has a great internal DAC and APTX so covered either way really. Everything...

V-MODA Crossfade 2 Wireless - We Discuss It With Val Kolton - Head-Fi TV

Just checking in if it is still the fact that only the Rose Gold variant have APTX? Looking to replace my HD25 II's, even commuting I'll mostly be using a cable but having APTX would be a nice option.

Sennheiser HD25-1 voice coil repair suggestions

Hey Deppard, sorry to hear about your headphones. I did repair mine and have been using them ever since. I think they sound even better with a solid connection.   First of all don't use normal solder as the voice coils are aluminium and hair thin. I bought some stuff from ebay called: ALUSOL...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

That Steam Box looks pretty cool chicolom. I already have a computer connected to the TV that runs Windows 8. The PC is pretty old but runs all games at the 1366x720 of the TV, it has Steam on it and is used for gaming with a wireless XBox controller. I might dual boot it with the Steam OS to...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Haha, that is always the question. After mining them up I sold enough to cover costs of electricity and the computers I bought. So now what I have is basically profit. When Litecoin hit $10 I cashed in 70 and bought a new mobile phone (Asus Fonepad Infinity - amazing phone + tablet combo). I...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Yep, I mined a bunch of Litecoins and some others earlier in the year. Built a couple of computers with dual 7970's in them and let them go for 3 months. I ran them during the winter so that the heat from the computers was useful in heating the house. Once I had a little stockpile of coins I...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Who the hell let Creative have the best hardware! All the necessary settings should be on the same page and not spread over a variety of settings pages that are sometimes obscure and don'e carry the same UI style. Ridiculous!   Any way it is working now as you said NamelessPFG, thanks again!

Loud volume is sorted as I think I had Headphones picked as speaker type - this gives a boost to volume.   Below is are sound sources available: (I have disabled onboard realtek) Notice that Configure is greyed out, that is where you normally choose 7.1 for the headphones.   After...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

I am now having a couple of issues with my set up.   I have Windows 8. X-Fi Titanium (non-HD) stereo out --> 5" monitor speakers (volume knob @15%) X-Fi Titanium (non-HD) optical  out --> Audioengine D1 DAC/AMP --> headphones.   For starters the speakers are loud at 6% windows volume and...

Sennheiser HD25-1 voice coil repair suggestions

I am back and with success!   I wouldn't undertake this unless your HD25-1's are completely shot in the connector department. I am an OKish solderer and only do it for necessity, mostly remote control cars/planes. If you are an good solderer please don't look at the solder picture, it is a...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Nijs, I got the Titanium non-HD so I could use 5.1 surround speakers and have an Audioengine D1 AMP/DAC plugged in to the optical for headphones.  The Audioengine D1 sounds great so far and CMSS-3D comes though over the optical link. Not sure if that helps you or not.

Sennheiser HD25-1 voice coil repair suggestions

Quote:   It is definitely not the cable, it was the problem reported on in the link in the original post. The speaker/cable connector that Sennheiser uses develops a fault where it doesn't make a good connection. There are various "fixes" but none are for sure. I decided to solder the...

Sennheiser HD25-1 voice coil repair suggestions

"Luckily" the break is where the voice coil wire joins the the cable connector. So I have about 1.5cm of wire to play. Other problem is it is aluminium wire and thinner than a human hair... I have had some tips from JFunk at Custom Cans in the UK and will try a repair this weekend.

Sennheiser HD25-1 voice coil repair suggestions

My Sennheiser HD25-1 ii have developed the problem where the speaker connectors need to be jiggled or plugged in a few times to get a good connection. This was becoming so bad that in the end I couldn't even get the left headphone working properly at all.   I decided to open them up to check...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Just want to say thanks to all here for the great thread!   It helped me purchase a Titanium X-Fi Pro/Champion for speakers and an Audioengine D1 connected to the X-Fi with optical for headphones.   With CMSS 3D and 7.1 on the X-Fi going to the Audioengine D1 via optical I am hearing...

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Interesting. I just picked up a X-Fi Titanium to use with a 5.1 speaker setup but I was wondering what to do about headphones. From what you have said though something like the Audioengine D1 Premium 24-Bit DAC plugged in to the optical out would be OK?

The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

Thanks, the headphones I am looking at are: AKG Q701 Sennheiser HD 598 Sennheiser RS 180 (wireless would be very convenient) I guess my real question is would the lag in the RS 180's be noticeable while gaming? My best of both worlds would be AKG Q701 with wireless adaptors for when I want...
