shure srh840, 750dj or ath m50?
The 840s are great but you really need an amp to get the most out of them. They're also a little on the heavy side, which can be uncomfortable. Most people like to bring up the M50 but unless you burn them in a few hundred hours or dampen the bass their sound is a little on the dark side. Have...- Clarksonius

How are the Skullcandy headphones?
I used to have a pair of skullcandy ear buds but I gave them to my roommate. From my experience with them they are actually built pretty well and they take a pretty good beating (getting stuffed in your bags, etc.) but the bass is way overpowering/muddy. However, if you are a bass-head then you...- Clarksonius

Need help deciding on the ATH-ES7
I'm aware that the Grado Sr-80i is an open can and different from the ES7. But sonically, how does it compare to the ES-7? Which do people generally prefer?- Clarksonius

Need help deciding on the ATH-ES7
Comfort wise does anyone know how they stack up against the Sennheiser HD-25 SP IIs? I used those for a while and found them very uncomfortable. The fit on my ear just felt weird and the clamping force was bothersome.- Clarksonius

Need help deciding on the ATH-ES7
Thanks for the feedback! I already own a pair of M50s so getting a 440 would be a moot point. From what you guys said I think I would like they way they sound, but since I do wear glasses and there seem to be some potential comfort issues I'll hold back until I try a pair on my head.- Clarksonius

Need help deciding on the ATH-ES7
I am considering picking up a pair of ES7s for portable use but I'm not sure if I would like their sound and all the comparisons I've found on head-fi are between the ES7s and headphones I haven't heard... So, can anyone shed light on how they sound compared to a Shure SRH-840 or ATH-AD700...- Clarksonius

Sub-$100 closed cans: HD280 vs SRH 440/840 vs Audio Technica M50

With the exception of what feels like an artificial "hump" of base with the K240S, I actually prefer the sound of my K240S. Since you like the AKG sound, you'll probably prefer the 840. Unless you mod it, the M50 just feels like a subwoofer strapped to your skull.- Clarksonius

I haven't heard the SRH-440 but I have heard the SRH-840, HD-280, and I own an M50. Without a doubt, the SRH-840 is the best sounding phone, even without an amp. (It's very natural sounding and seems to have a wider sound stage than the others) The HD-280 is very neutral but it's a little...- Clarksonius
