Using Stereo Receivers as a headphone amp?

Hi guys. Today, at my local thrift store, I saw these 2 items there:   http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX8511-TX-8511-Stereo-Receiver/dp/B00005T3WF/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312699849&sr=1-1   http://www.topdjgear.com/denavprolog1.html   Right now, I'm running a foobar-->...

Are warm/laid-back synonyms? How about bright/forward?

It may be my relative inexperience with headphone characteristics, but it appears to me that warm/laidback are often associated with each other, and forward/bright are as well.   Do we know of any warm/forward headphones? Bright/laidback? Are these terms synonyms?

Grado SR60 with DAC/amp or Grado SR225 ampless and plugged into stock sound card. Which one has better SQ?

While debating my next headphone purchase, I've been listening to my $30 Sennheiser MX560s ear buds. My first cans were Grado SR60s, and i didn't enjoy them as much as i thought i would. But these Sennheisers, I like them a lot. I've heard about the SR series being an intro to the "Grado sound"...

Help me find a pair that suits me

I'm about to get my second pair of headphones, after my Grado SR60s broke down recently. Here's what I'm looking for: - Price range: i can stretch up to $100 if it makes a huge difference, but i'd MUCH rather be in the $60-70 range. - I'll be using it exclusively for listening to music on my...
