Open box at EE usually means pristine, unused condition in an open box.  It's as if they just took a new one, broke the seal, and post it for sale.  Search it on head-fi.  Many have ordered and been happy.

JVC is very highly regarded around here.  It can be easily modded, but has a very fun sound right out of the box.  Most notably a very boomy low end.  For $35 USD cannot be beaten for the price.

I bought a usb from Monster (...I know), and after using it for a few days, I realized that this is absurd.  I returned it, and then bought a shorter, thicker, and 4x cheaper cable from Monoprice, and I sleep well.

There's an EQ specifically for Spotify-Equalify-and it works very well.
