Knowledge Zenith (KZ) impressions thread
I've had some KZ ATR for the past couple years that I've really enjoyed, but looking to upgrade, perhaps to something with multiple drivers, but really don't want to spend more than $30-$40 since it'll be crammed into pockets and backpacks. Currently looking at the ZS10 Pro, ZSTX, and ZSN Pro...- mookid_

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest
Does anyone have any thoughts on the KZ ATR vs the KZ ZS3? I'm specifically looking for one that is less sibilant, perhaps has a veiled high end as I can't do piercing highs at all. Also a little wary of detachable cables. Loved my Tennmak Pro until it started to scratch or drop out with every...- mookid_

Good replacement for Tennmak Pro? Over-ear in-ears with laid back high end
I really love the sound of my Tennmak Pros, they're over-ear, they have a great seal especially with the foam tips and I love that recessed high end since just about every other pair of in-ears that I've tried has piercing sibilance or is way too crispy. But mine have developed this nasty...- mookid_

Review by 'mookid_' on item 'Koss Pro4S Full Size Studio Headphones, Black with Silver Trim'
Let me first say that I've had a Sennheiser Momentum 1.0 and a Shure SRH440 with the 840 earpad mod, and I've sold BOTH because they didn't stack up to the Koss Pro4S. What's so surprising about that is that I didn't even intend to get these, they were a gift. I'd had Koss phones before and...- mookid_

FiiO X1 II (2nd Gen) w/ Bluetooth!
So awesome that it supports up to 256GB MicroSD. FINALLY an affordable solid state player with much greater capacity than the 160GB iPod. Think there will be any black friday/cyber monday markdowns on this or is it gonna stay firmly at $100?- mookid_

Fiio A3 with a laptop (or do I need a DAC)?
I've been looking at cheap headphone amps and am considering the Fiio A3 but it doesn't sound like that could bypass a computer's onboard soundcard; it would need to receive the source from an eighth inch cable via a laptop's headphone out. Is it worth the extra money to get something like...- mookid_

Big sealed over-ear cans for rock/metal that sound good unamplified
those Superlux HD660 sound like they definitely need an amp, dang... I was considering the Superlux HD662F but probably just gonna go with the good ol Shure SRH440 with the 840 earpad mod.- mookid_

Big sealed over-ear cans for rock/metal that sound good unamplified
whoa, these look super cool! $35 shipped and they sound like Grados, chuck a $5 velour replacement pad from Ebay on there and for $40 I have something that sounds like Grado but has DT770/250 comfort and isolation? Sounds too good to be true...- mookid_

Big sealed over-ear cans for rock/metal that sound good unamplified
I've seen plenty of posts saying the 80 is fine with iPods/laptops... would you say an unamplified 32 would sound much better than an unamplified 80? (while the 80 would obviously sound better if both were amplified)?- mookid_

Big sealed over-ear cans for rock/metal that sound good unamplified
Looking for some large comfy sealed over-ear headphones for mostly metal/heavy rock listening. They won't be paired with an amp. I usually buy used so anything that runs $80-$100 used on eBay is ideal. Currently considering the Beyerdynamic DT770 / 80ohm because it looks huge and comfortable...- mookid_

Recommendations for a good desk stereo for under $150? Is that possible?
I've been a headphone guy for years and now I'm thinking of getting a tiny desk stereo as well. Volume is the lowest priority, as I have housemates. I'd just like something that can play CDs, has a tuner, small and simple and sounds good. Is the $150 region even possible for such a thing? What...- mookid_

VSonic GR02 Bass exceedingly bright + bad sibilance?
I actually didn't do a burn in, which I usually do, because I read a review here saying they didn't sound any different after 50 hours of burn in so I just skipped it. I've probably listened for 50-70 hours so far but usually not very loudly so I'll give them the old blasting and see what that...- mookid_

VSonic GR02 Bass exceedingly bright + bad sibilance?
I got a pair of these recently and like them a lot, except that they're very forward with the highest of the treble causing some pretty noticeable sibilance on files that have never had that problem on any other headphone I've used (SR60s, PX100s and MH1c to name a few). I'm using the Treble...- mookid_

Difference between VSonic GR02 Bass and VSonic GR02 ProII Silver Cord?
So I'm looking to buy the VSonic GR02 Bass that seems to have much acclaim here, and there are two sources which seem to be selling slightly different products Amazon is selling the VSONIC GR02 Bass Silver Cord with images of a box identifying it as the R02proII. Lendmeurears is selling...- mookid_

Grado SR60 right channel cutting out due to wiring at the Y-cable intersection. What to do now?
It's definitely the cable and not the jack. Although the jack has become a little loose too due to the typical heavy cable sag, but that's a separate issue that isn't even really an issue. I guess I should also mention that I have no technical experience or supplies and can't do any work...- mookid_

Grado SR60 right channel cutting out due to wiring at the Y-cable intersection. What to do now?
It's true, my precious Grado SR60s (not SR60i) are having the most frustrating problem. I'm almost positive it's some loose wiring at the Y-cable intersection for the right channel which is causing it to be crackly and occasionally just not there at all. I have the original box with the warranty...- mookid_

Buying portable or in-ear headphones? Seeking guidance? DON'T START A NEW THREAD. Ask for advice HERE!
Just got my MH1C's in from eBay user starhall. Holy ****... these things really are amazing. The seal is very tight with the stock size. I have yet to walk with them but they do seem a bit microphonic due to that tight seal. Also since it is so tight, adjusting your jaw will change how loud they...- mookid_

Buying portable or in-ear headphones? Seeking guidance? DON'T START A NEW THREAD. Ask for advice HERE!
What's the popular choice for an IEM that is low in microphonics and has a very good seal for ~$60? I'm looking for a replacement for my Sennheiser CX300B and am using some Skullcandy's I found discarded at work in the interim and their microphonics are driving me nuts. I recall it not...- mookid_

so I read this today...
Quote: What I'm talking about is cans sound worse than properly built Canalphones or IEMs. Reasons why: 1) Being on the outside of the ear, they never quite "sit" in the same place. Subtle movements of the tweeter cone relative to your ear have a dramatic effect on frequency response...- mookid_
