I agree with xnor, "tightens up" is generally going to be a fairly abstract concept to someone who hasn't yet had the opportunity to try audio components that work well with their headphones.

I meant comparisons betweeen their respective equipment types, but I was concerned that by getting a D12 I may lose out on what the P4's amp has to offer, while at the same time I have no idea how good the P4 actually is.

Same with the P4 but I kinda need comparisons against the D12 before I consider purchasing either.

If the light is blinking or fading, and the SQ went down, that's an indicator of the battery needing to be charged I reckon. Either that or the switch like they said, but I'm just speaking from experience with the P3+

@jamato8 You have an impressive collection of portable amps, would you be able to give any comparisons?

If this is the new D4 and includes a DAC then I seriously doubt the amp can compare to the very similarly priced P4 which is dedicated to the function of amplification.   What I want to know is how it differs from the D12 other than connectivity.

Will the L3 be as good or better? Just wondering because it sounds like it'll be far smaller.

If the D12 is the new D10, then am I to assume this replaces the D4?
