Sale on Made in USA Headphone Cases

@mrspeakers Looking for a branded case for my Ether CXs. I'm kind of late to the party, but the Amazon link doesn't work anymore. I'm also part of the Club DC Audio, but it seems there are no discounts to accessories. Is there any chance these can be shipped Priority or something else? $15...

    Massdrop x NuForce EDC3 IEM

Yeah I had purchased this but was unhappy and sold it. I looked at the frequency graph and had some idea of what to expect. I wasn't far off, but I'm also not sure how these audio bloggers/reviewers thought it was that great. I think they are good for the value, but it could be quite possible...

    Massdrop x NuForce EDC3 IEM

@imackler iphoneX and 2016 macbook pro. no DAC for either, but I wouldn't imagine you need a DAC to drive $99 IEMs.

    Massdrop x NuForce EDC3 IEM

I just received my EDC3, and i'm slightly disappointed. Granted, the earbuds I had before this are the Telos Fujisan (got them off kickstarter for $119, but MSRP is $299). The tone is there albeit overly warm for me. It's pretty dull, and everything feels recessed as if it's a little muddy...

Introducing NightOwl Carbon & NightHawk Carbon. Next Generation Headphones from AudioQuest

Because most of us that have the nighthawk carbon are enjoying them that much. I bought this for $600 mainly because I like the aesthetics and the subtle improvements over the original. I think if money is a concern, then the original Nighthawks are good enough.

Introducing NightOwl Carbon & NightHawk Carbon. Next Generation Headphones from AudioQuest

I'm just using this to drive them... https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/QuadCapture You don't really need a lot of oomph to drive them which is pretty nice.

Introducing NightOwl Carbon & NightHawk Carbon. Next Generation Headphones from AudioQuest

Q701s to me are very very open. The soundstage is tremendous as if you are in a concert hall. The caveat is you don't feel much of the bass, and occasionally the mids/highs clash with each other. The NH Carbons to me are much less open and more direct. There is some soundstage to it, but...

Best openback headphones for fps games

I have the AKG Q701 for gaming and music. You won't hear the bass as much Been using it for Overwatch, and it's very good at directional placement. I also just picked up the Audioquest Nighthawk Carbons and trying them out as a replacement for gaming. They will replace my Q701 for music...

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread

I also just got my NH Carbons today. I have been playing around with them and comparing to my previous main headphones (AKG Q701). The leather pads definitely isolate better with more bass and thump. The suede to me sounded much more "open". My preference is to go with the suede because I...

Introducing NightOwl Carbon & NightHawk Carbon. Next Generation Headphones from AudioQuest

I just got my new Nighthawk Carbons. My main was previously the AKG Q701. It's an interesting sound signature. I took it for a spin for 5 minutes on some EDM and rock music. The sound is very punchy in your face, but it's not as punchy as my Grados 325e. There is some sibilance, but I...

Help pick new full open headphones to add to my collection

I plug in my headphones thru a Roland quad capture DAC.  Right now from my research it's looking like I am leaning closer to the T1s.  Just waiting for those crazy buydig deals to show up.  I'm not sure about the Hifiman HE-560.  How do these compare to the Audeze alternatives?

Help pick new full open headphones to add to my collection

Thank you for your suggestions.  I'll read up on all of those.  I was looking at the Beyerdynamic T1 and AKG812 prior to this post (http://www.head-fi.org/t/745213/comparison-review-a-tale-of-two-flagships-part-deux-beyerdynamic-t1-vs-akg-k812)

Help pick new full open headphones to add to my collection

Hi,   Getting that itch again..   I currently have: - AKG Q701 (these are my dailies) - Grado SR325e (these are fun but i can only listen for a few hours at a time) - Ultrasone HFI-580 (rarely used nowadays)   What do you guys think I am missing in my repertoire? Prefer, but not...

Question about the Ultrasone HFI-580, audiophiles/owners please chime in

I have the Ultrasone HFI-580.  I've had them for a couple years now and use them to compose electronic music.  I've worn them on the plane for multiple hours listening to my iPhone w/o a dedicated amp.  The only fatiguing part about it was not so much the highs but that it clamps the ear a...

Please help a noob out!! ( ATH M50 vs Ultrasone HFi 580 vs Ultrasone Pro 550/650)

You guys are lucky.  The HFI-580 for $110 is definitely a steal.  I bought my HFI-580 like 3 years ago for $150 US.    I actually tested the HFI 580, 550/650, and ATH M50.  I stuck with the HFI 580 because it was more fun.  It took about 70 hours of straight burning in, but it was well worth...

    Why buy a Macbook?

I'm a hefty PC user but I recently bought a 15" MBP for the following reasons: - light weight (5.4 lbs for a 15" is amazing) - battery life (i get 7 +/- on a full charge while doing photoshop or other stuff) - apps are integrated seamlessly into the OS - aesthetics (sturdy, beautiful...

need feedback on which IEMs best fits my needs

Hey all,   I'm currently shopping for a pair of IEMs that have (1) comfort, (2) excellent isolation, and (3)sound with ~$150 in mind.  I plan to take these primarily to airports.  I originally was taking my SRH840/HFI-580, but it's not as portable as I thought it'd be.  Would like a good...

What do stage performer's wear IEMs?

i read this thread briefly...   I'm a musician (played guitar/bass in various bands on stage).  The point of IEMs are for monitoring your bandmate's parts so you know what's going on.  If you have ever played at poorly amped venues, you will know that the stage monitiors sometimes clip badly...

Does the HFI 550 need an amp? What is an amp?

I have the HFI-580 which from what I'm told is basically the DJ1 but without the coiled cable. It runs fine unamped from my Ipod Nano. The bass is much more powerful than the 780. The highs are pretty smooth, but they are probably not as smooth as the 780. Isolation is very good and leakage is...

    Headphone for Trance/House/EDM recommendation

I sent a PM a while ago to AnalogBox. He also owns Ultrasones, and this what he had to say about trance music when I asked him about the 580 vs 780: "Keep in mind that 580's are an almost identical deviation from DJ1's that Ultrasones offer so they have the advantage on Trance music as...

why do people demo headphones with music?

Quote: why do people demo headphones with music? There are 3 ways of testing a.k.a. demoing a product 1) Scientifically which you have indicated in your posts 2) Subjectively based on personal observations and comparisons. 3) a combination of both The "perfect" combination that...
