The stock X1 cable has impedance of something like 1.8, which is abnormally high. The cable impedance makes a big impact on the bass of these headphones, which is what makes these headphones.

Oddly peculiar that $220-$250 headphones would have a poor quality interconnect cable while just any other cable is "decent".

Loving the X1s but the non-replaceable earpads and the padding on the top is disappointing. I got them used, traded my He-300 for them and I would love to be able to wash them to get the previous owner's smell out.   ;_;

From what I read the HE-300s aren't that difficult to drive either. A plain Xonar DG should be fine.
