Trae, I wish I knew half of what you're capable of!  That project is flat-out amazing, man I wish I had those skills

    Pro700 MKII Bass Mod

Hello Trae, I would try the Ultrasone HFI-580's.  That's what I've moved to - and haven't had a phone yet that suits my taste with bass compared to it.

    AKG K550 review - Essentially a closed-back K702 - literally.

@moneyme247, If you want, I'll give you the permission to copy/paste the measurements I took and post it yourself if you wish :)   That size matters thread is a great idea

Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Quote:   Thanks!  Well, if I crank it up past the 110db that I'm perceiving, then the distortion/driver rattling starts to kick in.  I'm just quite surprised with this much bass within the cup, and it still gets satisfyingly loud as well.  The COPs and my HFi 580's are my babies!  And...

Quote:  Ok, thanks!  I also re-read the Amazon description - the mic addition is separate.  I didn't notice that the first time around

Just got my COPS, these sound fantastic!  I did amp them with the Headroom MicroAmp and achieved 110db.  Not bad, so I'm keeping these.  And that was with the bass ports on the 3rd position (2nd highest from maximum bass).   On a side thought, were the COPs supposed to come with two cables? ...

Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Quote:   You're right Chewy.  I discovered the same thing years ago, which is how I turned to just getting my tunes, albeit paying for them, through Amazon Mp3 or CD.  I can't stand anything in 128k, I also hear warbled sounds in addition to lowered volume as well compared to a higher...

I finally ordered these COP's, so I can investigate myself.  I will post back results on how loud I perceive they can get.  Whether folks agree with my findings or not, I want to help others that do like their music loud.

Ok devhen, I will check that out when I get the chance.  I'm contemplating some Pro900's.

Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

I just received my HFI-580's.  I'm already looking at the top of the line Ultrasone's now - that's how RIDICULOUSLY GOOD these sound   Unreal, they also get BEYOND loud for me, I couldn't get them to distort at all - holy mother...

Quote:   You must be talking to me.  Ha, I've also picked up a pair of 580's.  On the description, Ultrasone mentioned how the Mylar drivers on those are impossible to blow.  That's music to my ears.  I want to hear your thoughts on the 750's.

Quote:   You can, but unfortunately that will cost some money.  Beyer Manufaktur will customize it with any color combo you want.  I used to have a pair of DT990's, all black with the grills in chrome.  THAT was the sickest looking phone I've ever had.  Set me back $450.

@stv014,   I agree with your findings and appreciate you taking the time to do the tests.  I'm not sure on if they test it at a 20Hz wave, then turn the volume up until it cracks, but it does seem like it.  In fact, that's pretty much what I do with the phones as well, put it on a movie with...

Quote:   I'm with you on that, I don't agree with that decision either, I only gravitate towards that max volume test of each new phone they review.  I love their analysis on that.

Quote:   Standoffish?  Nope.  The link and info is there.  Full of it?  It seemed implied.  Measured it myself?  No, I don't have any tools to measure, but I used perceived loudness which I think I'm quite good at.  Why do I think that?  Because I've owned the DT770 and many others before...

Quote:   I know what the sensitivity is, you're trying to make it seem like I'm confused - but I'm not.  Did anyone happen to check out the headphone info site that I keep referring to?  No need to take my word on it, they have the electronics with the measurements.  96db is the...

Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Quote:   But that's my point, I've owned the DT770's as well, they couldn't even hit 100db (headphone info dot com agrees as well, 96db to be exact).  That rattle that you hear is the limit on the driver excursion.  It always appears first in the right cup, then if you manage to crank the...

Beyerdynamic Custom Ones! New Beyer headphones!

Quote:   Nah, this just simply means you don't blast your music like I do.  The ones that go the loudest, are the most painful to wear in the long run - Beyer DJX-1, Audio Technica Pro700MK2, etc.  If they were comfortable, I wouldn't be here.  But I will follow into the suggestion of...

Quote:   Thanks yokken.  From your setup and experience, I think you are right about all of it.  The COP's just won't get loud for my taste, well, at least they're in the majority because many headphones nowadays still struggle to go above at least 110db before maximum excursion of the...
