    Sony DEJ925 charging problem...

I had this happen to me the other day too (same unit - 925). I just played a cd until the 'lobatt' warning came on again and then restarted the charge cycle. This seemed to fix things up. I'd seriously consider getting one of the cheaper Sony NE units (e.g. NE300) that use AA size batteries -...

Are the Sony MP3 CD players restricted in any way?

Hi, I was looking at getting a Sony NE900 CD player for playing my own MP3 cds. I've got an old Sony EJ925 and I'm not expecting the sound to be any better than that unit - what I'm more interested in is it's ability to play mp3 files. Are there any restrictions in what type of mp3 files...

    Sony MD Inquiry

    Recharging the EJ 925

You just need the appropriate ac adapter to plug into the cd player itself - the player does the charging. The lid is actually die cast magnesium, the rest of the body is plastic. Ben

    Sony D-EJ985 and D-EJ885

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Sony don't seem to be doing much R&D on the cd player side of things. There is less competition and higher profits to be made on the md scene - especially in Japan. Neb.

What kind of portable will get you the best sound w/o amp?

I don't use an amp. What I've found though is my portable MD unit (R900) sounds better than my portable CD unit (D-EJ925) for probably the reasons stated by others here - better DAC. Mind you, the mega bass on the CD units very poorly done which does not help. Of the newest cd players the...

    D-EJ1000 skipping...

Is your battery low? I've found with the 925 that on certain discs when the power is running low (but certainly not empty i.e. one or even two bars left) it will skip. Connecting the power adapter immediately fixes the problem. Neb

    Remote light on Sony D-EJ925?

Hi, When running the 925 on mains power the backlight on the remote stays on permanently - I believe it's possible to turn it off via some button pressing combination. Does anyone know what it is? (I bought the unit second hand so I don't own the manual) Thanks, Neb

    Koss (S)PortaPros vs Grado 60

Hi, I'm not overly impressed with the Grado 60's for the current crop of portable cd/md units (they won't even plug into the remote for a start!). Headroom recommend the Koss Portapros as good, (relatively) cheap headphones with great sound. Has anybody got/heard both and can give me an...

    sony 915/825/725/925/1000

Having owned a 725 and now 925 I can say the 925 can sound alright with the right headphones. I'm using the Sony 888 earbuds with it and they're a pretty good match. The 725 is actually pretty good. It's got an lcd on the unit, uses standard batteries and reasonable build quality. I only...

Any Sony R90 and R900 owners here?

Is it just me or does the Sony R90 sound better than the R900? I bought the R900 as an 'upgrade' to my R90 but the sound on the R900 is really thin. The R90 also seems to have a more powerful amp - even though both are rated as 5mw+5mw i.e. I listen to the R90 at half volume but need 3/4 of max...

    Just bought the new D-EJ955

I heard Nero does not do cd-text properly - have a go with Feurio (its free to try - http://www.feurio.com/). I've burnt cds with cd-text using Feurio and they play back fine on my EJ925. The only problem I've had was with a cd that had 60 tracks - there is obviously a limit to how much text...

Can anyone explain headphone impedance for me?

Hi, In a previous thread there was talk about how the EJ1000 sounded better with headphones having 32ohms impedance rather than 16ohms, which is typical of all the Sony earbuds i.e 888's and EX70's. Only Sennheiser seem to offer earbuds having an impedance of 32ohms (MX400). So how does...

Finally... My review of the Sony D-EJ1000! (Sort of...)

Hi, Is the EJ1000 all metal or just the lid - like the 925? I held one the other day and thought it had a metal back but Sony's site and your review have only mentioned the lid being metal. If it is half plastic and it does not work too well with earbuds then I think I'll hang on to my...

Anyone have a Sony D-EJ925 manual?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a url for the Sony D-EJ925 PCDP. I managed to pick one up second hand and I am particularly interested in the features that require several button presses to activate/deactivate. I thought it was possible to disable the beep on the remote and control the...

    So whats your test disc?

Hi, Since I've been trying various md and cd units out recently I thought I'd find out if there is a common 'test' disc that people use here when giving a unit the thumbs up or down. My D-EJ725 thoughts...

crappo dej725. 925 ALL DA WAY!!!

Are there really differences in sound between the 725/825/925? Looking at the 825 and 925 side by side it seems the price difference is mainly due to the differences in construction and the included accessories. Same form factor but 825 is plastic and the 925 magnesium. 825 comes with NiCd...

Do all audiophiles hate Mega Bass?

In a lot of the reviews I've read of portable cd players it seems that it is always the 'raw' quality of the headphone output that is judged by the reviewer (and fair enough too). However, the reviewer will nearly always pass comment on how the sound is ruined when the bass boost (or similar) is...
